Based upon my reading of the TechPowerUp review of the GTX 1070 it will be a big seller even at $449 and will really take off at $379.

Except of course, the 1070 is NOT $50 over the 970, its $120 over the 970 at release (329.99-449.99).. unless you can point to availability of the $379.99 GTX 1070 Unicorn Edition.

I dont think $379 is at all murkier. Nvidia spoiled people with the $339 release of the 970, as no x70 card (or second tier AMD card, other than the impotent 6950) had previously sold at that price point. $449 is where it gets murkier, which incidentally was the price many were paying for the 7950 for several weeks after its release. As we know, that changed only when the 670 was about to be released @399, a few months after the 7950 release.Except the pricing. If this was a $339 SkU, I have no doubt it would be the best selling card right now. At $379, it becomes a bit murkier. A bit out of reach for most. At $449, no freakin' way.
Got any actual points? And do you already know what AMD has been able to deliver and is bringing soon? Do they fare much better and are ready for market action? Or does it require some quarters to go head-to-head with gp104 ?It's always the competition's fault.

So the 1070 is doing well and may do well even @ $449 if theres nothing else to challenge it. I wont pay that much for it but others will, esp those who may have bought the 7950 at that same price point.
Yea if you want to talk about what could be best selling card I guess without figures right now, the amd 480 at $199 would be that place holder. Agree, I dont think it will be 'best selling' by a long shot even @ 379. Its just not the price point of 'best sellers'. Which is why AMD is going for the 'ignore what the competition is doing' approach and focusing on the 480 as the main Polaris release, which I think has a good shot of achieving best seller status. Worse than 120$. EVGA ACX 970 costs 339 (VAT applied). 1070 ACX = 489. Official prices on EVGA store. So... 150 more. Yeah, it's gonna sell like hotcakes.It is not $120 over the GTX970. You can preorder a eVGA ACX3.0 card for $419. And eVGA'S GTX970 didnt start at $329. Their custom cards started with over $350 two years ago. So you pay >$69 more. Furthermore the GTX1070 offers twice the memory over the GTX970 and offers more performance than the GTX970 over the GTX770.
Sure that's true, I have owned two bikes myself, spent quite a bit of money on other things. I was merely saying the average consumer who doesn't frequent these boards will see that price and be more intrigued. We spend $400+ on a card because well were here and we care about fps, benches, post processing and most people here are also techies.I have friends that have car hobbies, motorcycles, even sneaker collectors. They spend way more than 400$ A YEAR on their hobbies.
I bet my father spends more than that on cleaning supplies for his motorcycle and truck.
Most adults have jobs and can easily afford a 4 or 500$ card, especially every 2 or 3 years.

nVidia's lead time with GP104 will be much longer than AMD's with P10 over GP106. There doesnt exist a reason for people to buy a 480 card when nVidia is around the corner for their <$250 card.
No one is denying the the issue I have is reviews quoting a price that isn't available. This was very intelligent by Nvidia. Imagine if the rx 480 had launched at $200 msrp wit pricedrop to 150? Would we use the 150 price tag?Founders edition is crap price tax; no denying that. Let's give prices and availability a few weeks to settle before whining and crying foul. Absolutely no competition in the high end space and day of release always results in price gouging.
