Might be printed wrong. The chipset was announced not long ago but not that long ago!:Q

This is probably correct, they are expected to start shipping in early February. And the performance should be between a GF2 and GF3, so the price is right. Reactorcritical.com has more info on these.

considering the Mx420 has only reg 32bit SDRAM, that sounds about right.

<< Geforce4? For only $120? Buy em before they can release em >>

It's not a true GeForce4; it's the MX version (only 32 MB SDRAM, slower clockspeed, probably only 64-bit). As stated above, it will run slower than a GeForce3 (you can sometimes find a deal on a GeForce3 Ti200 for just a few bucks more). The true GeForce4 top-of-the-line (can't remember the version number) is supposed to reatail for $500-600, even more than the GeForce3 was at launch. I'm not really sure what nVidia is trying to do by such a wide diversification of their product line. These products are aimed at lower-end, budget systems, but those markets typically don't upgrade as frequently. When this chip is released, they will have several products in the same marketspace. Really confusing, especially for the average user.

EditI had things totally confused. There are 3 GeForce4 MX cars in the works, as well as the GeFroce4 Ti(which will probably have its own variations). The best GeForce4 MX is the GeForce4 MX460 - 550 MHz DDR SDRAM (quite a difference compared to the 166 MHz SDR SDRAM found on the GeForce4 MX420). The site mentioned above, reactorcritical.com has some good info.
BTW, the GeForce4 Ti will feature 128 MB DDR RAM. With the price of RAM these days, this card will definitely be costly.

Seems to me that NVIDIA is going to confuse the market right into ATI's hands. Stores like Best Buy never get rid of their old stock, so picture a shelf with 32MB GF2 MXs, 64MB GF2 MX400s, GF2 GTS-Vs, GF2 TI 200s, GF3 TI 200s, GF3 TI 500s and now all GF4 derivatives....ugh.

The only reason I can think for all of this saturation is that NVIDIA is still having a horrible time producing GF3 cores and wants to move on quickly to the GF4, even if the products overlap in price, performance AND shelf space.

I'm just going to wait a month, then I'll pick up a GF3 when the prices innevitably fall.

LOL, they are already out of stock. They don't even have a Geforce3 MX yet, do they? I've never seen them if they are available.

They have 3 versions of the Gef4MX and 3 versions of the Gef4 Ti, looks like they got everyone covered!

nVidia has a policy to introduce a new product every 6 months (GeForce, GeForce 256, GeForce2, GeForce2 Ultra, GeForce3, GeForce3 Ti). But lately, they haven't been so much introducing a new product as they have been introducing a whole new product line. 6 new cards coming out at once? That's a little ridiculous if you ask me.
