Picking up from where we left off so that we can focus on the reviews coming out in the next 24 hours. Reviews will be added to the list as we get them.

Reviews:
AnandTech (It's our site, read it )
The Inquirer (Take with very large helping of salt)
VR-Zone (Preview?)
Hardware-Infos
Hardware-Aktuell
Benchmark Reviews (registration required)
IT.com
Publish IT
ExtremeTech
Guru3D
Tech Report
ComputerBase
Hot Hardware
Hexus
Tom's Hardware
Beyond3D (Tech only, no benchmarks)
Hardware Secrets
Hardware Zone
Legit Reviews
Techpowerup
FiringSquad
Keys & Rollo (NV Focus Group members)
Driver Heaven
Bjorn3D
CPU3D
NVNews
T-Break

Now for some generic warnings before I need to start going after specific people:

1) Some of you are going on significant segways about AMD stuff, if it doesn't directly and immediately relate to the GT200, use the AMD thread.
2) I'm not going to remind anyone again to not make clearly stupid accusations about each other being fanboys/shills, it's not adding anything to the discussion.
3) As a general reminder, take everything that is a rumor with a grain of salt (2 if it's the Inq), a lot of rumors are false and just lead to people getting wound up over nothing.

I'm just scared at how hot this thing is gonna run. 9800GTX already turned my computer into an oven... can't imagine what this is gonna do to it. I think I'm gonna have to invest in some aftermarket cooling for it but I don't know if there's anything that will mount on this yet.

Nice. Waiting for the Anandtech, bit-tech and Techreport reviews though. Xbitlabs will probably take a month, as usual. What's the site with the epic benchmarks (like ~25 games)? Computerbase.de?

Remember, whatever with the result, we got the early performance the driver is very very early. At least we need a month to see the real performance of this new toy.
I would see the performance in Crysis with all setting high dan AA/AF turned ON if the performance is bad, maybe it's time for me to back with RED team, after 5 years with GREEN team

Hmm looks like benchmarkreviews.com pulled their article. Shame though, it was the best review I've seen so far.

Depending if these reviews hold up, I think dual 260s are in my future, due to my two EVGA Step Ups for ~$200 each.

Not really. gt200 is the same architecture as g80. Any driver optimizations that could have been made were probably made in the 2 years that g80 as available.

That being said, I think the scores are very impressive. Beating the 9800gx2 without having to deal with SLI problems or microstuttering =

Has anyone said how loud/quiet the fan is yet?

edit: and isn't the CUDA physx stuff supposed to be released with the gtx280 also?

You can't be serious. I read the "review" before it was pulled. It was some of the worst drivel I have ever read. It was nothing more than a giant Nvidia press release. Well not actually, it was like an Nvidia press release only with an idiotic writing style and over the top fanboyism to the extreme.

The author even admitted the card crashed several times during testing, but glossed over it and called them "several rare crashes". If I was Nvidia I would force the site to take the article down. The 280 is a great card it doesn't need some drooling fanboy masturbating all over the card to get the point across.

G200 is different in terms of architecture compared to G80. Its not a new design, but it takes what G80 did good while adding or completely changing portions of the chip to make it much more efficent. Theres been alot of overhual especially areas where many aren't firmiliar with so i suspect that we could still see some improvements in terms of performance in the next couple of months.

From the INQ results, the stock GTX280 is scoring very well against an OCed 9800GTX.

I'm sure NV are not getting all the performance they can out of the GTX280 yet, with newer drivers and some OC versions we will see higher performance.

Now all NV has to do is lower the price to about $500, and everyone will be happy

These scores are not impressive at all. It's been almost two years and all we get to buy is this crappy truck sized crate that performs only a little better than the previous one and that too for 600 bucks. There is nothing new, they just increased the shader processors for DX10 performance. Also don't trust reviews that run Crysis @ high, every card must be tested with all features of the game turned ON othewise it's just a biased review trying to show the company in good light.

Viral marketing spin. Nice try though. And for the price, the drivers should be nearly flawless.

i was just thinking the same, those numbers on rubbish, if you have a 8800 and up its

pointless to even consider upgrading, lets hope ATI pull somthing out of the bag, whats

happened have Nvida hit a brick wall in performance or is it just trying to make as much

money as possible with these awful incremental upgrades.

im not impressed in the slightest and it looks like im holding on to my 9600GT for longer than i though.

Judging from the INQ it's looking like 30-40% faster then the 9800gtx across the board, save for some extremely high resolutions, where it looks like the most performance gain is being obtained. Looks like a real enthusiast card, but only for those with 30" monitors.

I think the gains are just fine and I also think drivers will improve. It's looking like it'll be faster than the 9800 GX2 which is exactly what you want from a next-gen single card (i.e. to be faster than a pair of previous gen cards).

The only question now is how fast the 4870 will be and how much it?ll cost.

Not sure why these results are a letdown for some; it's basically a 2x jump over the G80 on a single card, with a single core.

G92 Die shrink is perhaps the fly in the ointment, but basically: SLI of last generation = New single card that is slightly better.

Nvidia is clearly doing things like they have before: 7950GX2 ----> 8800GTX. (I.E. 9800GX2 ------> GTX280)

It's a good strategy, from a financial standpoint, since it keeps the most expensive cards of both generations viable as single or SLI setups while defining a new upper and upper-midrange.

Perhaps there isn't as much hype because there's no DX10 style innovation to pump it up.

Hmmmm it seems that im a dick and that ive been looking at the 1280x1024 scores and not at the higher end 1920x where the new card shines.......

.......SORRY

And look it also proves that crysis is shite and is still a card killer......lol

I don't know what those guys are up to, but I've been gaming on SLi GTX280 for weeks and haven't had a crash. (even a rare one)

LOL

Pics and benches to come soon.
