I recently got a SSD so I reinstalled Windows 7 to it. Since then, there are weird display issues in Windows. It is mostly noticeable whenever I scroll in Firefox. I'm not sure if that is "tearing" but it is basically an intermittent line of distortion and blurriness whenever I scroll. This distorted line is maybe 0.5" high and goes away once the scrolling (3 lines) has completed. There also seems to be other weird refresh/display issues in other 2D programs. I haven't tried any games yet.
After installing Windows, I installed the latest Nvidia driver (355.82). Thinking that was the issue, I tried 3 recent versions as well as the furthest back (340.52).
I was convinced it was a driver issue but I'm not sure now. Everything else is basically the same. I downloaded the Dell U2412 driver but it seems the one installed by Windows is the newest anyway. I don't think it's a hardware issue because the monitor and GTX 760 worked fine for years on the old install. I did not save the Nvidia driver I used on the previous install but it was from mid 2014.
It's also annoying that when I uninstall the graphics driver to try a new one, it often causes the display to turn off. At that point I have to reboot and it doesn't seem to fully uninstall (the entry remains), although after installing the different version, it seems to clean it out. The recommended instructions don't mention Safe Mode. Should I be using it to uninstall Nvidia graphics drivers?
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm about out! Thanks.
edit: Perhaps it is a Firefox issue? It doesn't seem to happen in Chrome, which doesn't seem to have smooth scrolling unless I install the Logitech extension. It seems to be okay if I disable smooth scrolling in Firefox. There is a Smooth Scrolling option in Setpoint, but it doesn't seem to affect browsers. Also I had the issue before installing crappy Setpoint.
Something is still jacked with the display though. If I have a web video playing, simply loading another page in a tab causes it play choppy. I'm pretty sure that is not normal for a modern system.
