Hello,

I would like help in choosing which one to buy.

On Amazon I can see the EVGA branded going for $509 and also another model with ACX Cooler going for $559. There's also a Superclocked version going for $523. Is the better cooler worth getting?

Also I'm open to other brands like ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte. I would like to stay around $500 but I can shell out the extra $50-60 if it's worth it in terms of performance increase + noise levels + temperature and overall overclocking. I don't need to push it to the max (otherwise I'd consider 780 ti) just to show off pretty numbers, but when there's something worth the extra price, I usually consider it.

Edit: The EVGA going for $559 is the Classified version with ACX Cooler.

Check out the MasterPass program @ Newegg - You can save $50 on your GTX 780 Purchase

The Asus DCII, MSI Gamer and Lightning, Gigabyte GHz Edition, Evga ACX .. there are soo many good cards to choose from, it's a tough choice really. I would spend some time just looking at reviews.

I got the Asus DC2 . I like it for the backplate. Close to the same price as the MSI Gaming Ed. But you get a nicer looking card imho. Good temps and a good over clocker.

I went with the Gigabyte GHz Edition, presumably because I'm stupid.

Classified if you want max OC, HoF if you want binned with a white PCB...

OP - are you willing to buy from Newegg? Because it has some hot deals right now on the MSI Gaming and the MSI Lightning.

From Amazon, the best deals are typically on EVGA cards. I'd say get the Superclocked card over the standard card - it's only $13 more and it's a guaranteed substantial overclock. The ACX cooler keeps the GPU much cooler and therefore more likely to hit maximum boost, and it's also quieter at load. It is not, however, quieter at idle.

MSI Gaming is sold out, atm unfortunately. For the price with the MasterPass discount, that is the best card for the money atm.

Hey guys just so you know the Masterpass deal is dead right now on the GTX 780's. The Masterpass discount will not work with the free game/combo offers if it appears in you cart or during check out. When the free games were not appearing and reappearing last week you had to buy the 780 when no games/combo offers were appearing in your cart then you would get the 10% off or $50.00 max. If they appeared in your cart with the 780 you would not get MP 10% off.

Oh also if you get catch it with out the games/combo offer after you click to check out with Masterpass also remember to enter the promo code word "Masterpass" in the promo box.

Just open chat with newegg CS and they can remove the promo, allowing you to use masterpass. Several guys at HardOCP were able to use masterpass and still get the 3 games promo by talking to newegg chat support. Sounds like for the latter issue, it depended on the person they spoke to, though.

I also talked to CS on the phone on this yesterday on possible deleting the games and if I could get the discount. He checked he couldn't do it but did offer me $25.00 off and the games and also put it under notes on my account for if I decide on a VC later. Blk can you post a link for us on this from HardOCP like to read it just incase?

For a GTX780
MSI Lightning (Quiet + 20 Phases)
EVGA Classified (Quiet + 14 Phases)
EVGA FTW (Quiet + 8 Phases)

I own the FTW

Thanks for all the replies, I'm currently checking all the options on Newegg and Amazon. I'm trying to decide on the best option from all your recommendations.

One question though, wouldn't I be able to reach the OC of the improved versions myself? The EVGA FTW is $530 vs $500 for the standart version with the ACX cooler. Both seem like sweet deals though. Also there is an MSI Lightning for $530 with a $30 Mail in Rebate. Not too shabby I guess. How is the MSI cooler? does it run silent and cool like EVGA ACX?

You can typically reach a factory overclock by overclocking yourself. But it's not guaranteed. Sometimes it's nice to just have a setup that works out of the box at higher speed, especially when it's just a few dollars more. Also, it's possible that manufacturers bin their GPUs by saving the best for the factory-overclocked cards. That's really hard to prove, though.

The Lightning cooler is better than the ACX, more effective, quieter, but much larger. At $500AR, that's the best deal going, now that the MSI Gaming is out of stock.

The standard EVGA GTX780 has less phases (6) vs the FTW edition.
i picked mine up for $499 at newegg.
I think the MSI @500 is a good buy

Thanks, I'm leaning towards that one. Only issue holding me back is the number of reviewers whose cards died. Hopefully I roll the dice and never have to RMA it back.

i dont recommend the MSI one because the fans arent ball bearing so they will probably die soon. i would get the eVGA classified if you have the power supply for it... i got the regular/non-SC/non-ACX eVGA one because my sig 650 (delta/antec) doesnt have 2 8 pin PCI-E connectors.

anyway, im pretty happy with mine it has a max boost of 993 Mhz and an ASIC score of nearly 70%, although i have temp and power target linked and set to about 68 C (forgot the power percentage).

I rolled the dice on it, I was able to somehow add it to my cart and it didn't show the games so I ordered right away this morning. Since it has 3 year warranty I guess I'm covered. All in all I'm getting it for $449.99 after the rebate.

Time will tell if it was a good deal; I've been very lucky with my hardware purchases.

Nice card! I had been seriously considering it when it was $499.00/$450.00 the last time with Masterpass, even took it through check out just needed to push confirm button to make purchase but just back out at the last second. The problem for me is their size, I keep thinking if I decide to go SLI down the road its not the card for me SLI with only one slot between cards on my MB otherwise it would have probably already have been in my computer.

Yeah I thought the same while doing the research. I concluded that I wouldn't need SLI for the foreseeable future with such a beast of a card.
