Nvidia GTX Titan X Owners Benchmark Thread

Thought it would be fun to post benchmark scores as folks receive delivery of their new Shiny Titan X(s). I'll take the numbers and create a graph.
Also take note of temps at load for any given bench.

I have my Titan X at 1380MHz and it's about 46% faster than a stock 980 right now. I was getting 38-39 fps in the first level of Witcher 2 at 4K with a 980 at stock, getting 56-58 fps on the Titan X.

Interestingly it doesn't really seem to challenge the Titan X that much, I'm only at 75 degrees, whereas on my 980 I would regularly hit 80-82C doing this scene on the GTX 980. As a result the cooler sounds pretty quiet. I assume I have to hit Crysis 3 or some more shader intensive game to get this thing to be as loud as a reference 290X.

Since I play so many F2P and MOBA-style games in practice I suspect at 4K the Titan X is actually going to end up being a quieter card than the GTX 980 because these games stress the TiX so much less than they do a GTX980 when running at this res.

Reference 980. I bought it on September 18th after all when it was the only option. I assume the 980 and the TiX have the same cooler besides the extra heatsink by the fan that the TiX has?

Okay the TiX experience is way better than a GTX 980. When I was playing Resident Evil Revelations 2 at 4K with all the settings on max, the framerate would be 60 95% of the time, but would keep dropping down to the 30s and 40s when there was heavy action or a major scene change or cutscene. Now it's a solid 60fps throughout.

Basically, the increased minimum framerates make this card great. Cant wait to put this card on water and get another 15-20% performance.

Nice. Most people get caught in overall performance improvements, but like you noticed the minimum FPS gains are more noticeable subjective wise.

Valley benchmark 1.0 (ExtremeHD preset)

No overclock on the Titan X, other specs in sig.

For comparison my highly overclocked GTX980 Windforce achieved a score of 3298 and an avg fps of 78.8.

Couple observations:

- Card seems to want to keep the temp <83C
- Card starts @ 1200 MHz, briefly dips down to 1152MHz and 1164MHz as it adjusts and then stays at a constant 1177MHz fluctuating between 82 and 83C as the benchmark progresses.
- I did not audibly hear the fan ramp up at all, though my case setup would not be considered a quiet one so it may have.

In Dragon Age Inquisition in cutscenes and small maps I see about 40%-45% more performance vs a 980.

In "open world" (large) maps performance is only about 25% faster than a 980, and there was no difference between overclocked and stock performance.

I wonder if this is a CPU draw call problem that will benefit greatly from DX12.

This is the card I've been waiting for and I'm kinda glad I was able to send my 980s back in time for a full refund. But NVIDIA making their partners wait 1-2 weeks before being able to sell kind of sucks, we never really got a good explanation for why they did that.

Yup you nailed it and it's a point often missed when people discuss benchmark results. The minimum fps this card retains and the consistency is far better than weaker cards like the 290x and 980/970. It even does a much better job than 980/970 SLI with respect to frame latency and hitching. This is the card I've been waiting for and I'm kinda glad I was able to send my 980s back in time for a full refund. But NVIDIA making their partners wait 1-2 weeks before being able to sell kind of sucks, we never really got a good explanation for why they did that.

I'm a big big fan of you selling your SLI 980's. I used to be suckered in by the multi-gpu craze, but in the end I learned that the better EXPERIENCE was usually found in a single GPU setup. Yes, your fps may be higher with multiple cards but is it actually smoother ? For me it is a big NO.

Potentially due to the 12GB vram? I saw some reviews at 4K vs SLI/CF setups and Titan X had better min fps by far. When [H] did their vram tests they noted some games like to allocate extra vram "just because it can" and Titan X was loaded with 7GB+... if its for dynamic LOD & cache, it would definitely result in higher min fps.

Contrary to what others say, I think 12GB vram was the right call. It's very future proof and will retain its selling point advantage to justify the higher premium, even when custom GM200 980ti comes with 6GB vram and higher clocks.
