The 5970 is only "holding its own" against the GTX470? Which benchmarks are you reading?

Until the 6900 series launches, the 570 and 580 can compete with Xfired 6850's and 6870's respectively.

Please don't take my posts to mean I think the new 500 series is crap. Far from it. I think they are great cards and offer a lot of performance improvements on the 400 series. No single gpu card comes close at the moment. I just get tired of the "Let's Suggest Sainthood for Nvidia" attitude.

Well the 5970 blows, x-fired 5970's are even worse. and I don't compare xfire crap to a single card, unless they have more then one crossfire connector, you have no upgrade path. 6850/6870

How about the gtx470 in sli for under 400$ vs the 6850's in crossfire? Better?

OMG!!! How many times did you recommend the 460SLI over the 5870? Or is it just Crossfire/AMD you don't recommend while SLI/nVidia is fine?

I'm not surprised you need to compare NVIDIA's high-end offerings to AMD's mid-range

That's all AMD is right now...midrange. At the high end NVIDIA has no competition.

The fact that the 6870 is slower than a 5870, I think shows the path they are on. I bet the 6970 will be slower than the 5970.

Is there some kind of hazing/recruiting going on for the Green Squad right now? It seems like there are more and more bogus posts every day. I enjoy making them work for it though .

Last time I checked, AMD still had the fastest card on the market. A whole year after its release. Great work Green Team .
You think NVIDIA can get its act together and finally beat the 5970? I mean, they've only had what, a year? Or will they just release more tessellation demos to stroke their bruised egos?

Probably, and it'll sell like hot cakes too! Customers simply can't get enough of AMD's superior offerings . Like I said, customers want performance, image quality, quiet sound profiles, energy efficiency, and a host of features and AMD offers all of these throughout its entire product line. NVIDIA can barely offer one of these features at a time, and usually fails miserably at the rest. Honestly, most of their products are laughable. I feels sorry for the people who were duped into buying a GF100 card.

I'll bet a lot of 5970 owners would beg to differ. Besides, is "it blows" your whole argument or do you have some good reasons why you don't like it? Because almost all the arguments you could make against it would also apply to a pair of Nvidia cards which you've recommended a lot in the past.

I saw the $200 deal on a GTX470 but is it still available for that price? If not, a better comparison would be a pair of 6870's.

Really? Then why are they not making any money? Seriously. Also why does their marketshare keep slipping? I want AMD to do well, I really do. I just don't understand why they are doing so poorly.

Probably because they're putting money back into the company and expanding. I mean, they have to do something to keep making great products, it's obviously working. And I thought marketshare was already explained? I mean, I know middle school math was tough and all, but AMD can't outsell NVIDIA 9:1, like they were, forever. :hmm:

If you wanted AMD to do well, I'm sure you would have bought one of their superior products. Since you didn't, it seems you feel NVIDIA needs all the help it can get considering it's laughable product attempts. That's either masochistic are blissfully naive. But hey, as long as NVIDIA keeps slashing prices like they were going out of business it's all OK, right? Oh wait...

You guys talk like PR people of AMD and NV, always your company has and do the best product and the competition sucks big time.

Reading the last 2-3 pages of the thread was very amusing, PR BS all the way

nVidia is chump change. AMD has the 400 lb. gorilla which is Intel to compete with. If it was only nVidia they'd have it made in the shade.

what's with the blatant fanboyism? when was the last time you owned and nvidia card? I've bought 3 mid/high amd cards and 2 nvidia offerings since summer 2007, so I'm very familiar with the good/bad of both. Currently, amd cards offer lower heat/noise power generally (with gtx 460 the obvious exception), while nvidia cards offer better software. not necessarily better drivers, but things like game specific profiles are a HUGE nvidia advantage atm. or, to put it another way, CCC is a piece of junk and needs to be fixed if amd wants to start attracting some of the longtime nvidia users.

It's funny that some of you think I'm serious. I guess I'm pretty convincing

If you aren't serious then you are blatantly trolling. Some of us get sick of the constant BS we have to read around here. Why not give us a break?

Very nice card if I was in the market to buy a card I would have to look very hard at the 570. Very well done NV.

On the Fud thing. Fud has retracted his statement. Well he should . Maybe someone should post that retraction.

Well since the guys who posted the BS. article aren't going to post the update here it is. Its in the same article just updated.

Update:
It appears that our usually well informed source failed us, and forwarded a photoshopped roadmap. So, we plainly got served. We are in the process of gathering more reliable info on Cayman performance and we will write an update as soon as we get something worthwhile. It will clearly end up quite a bit faster and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Keys I seen NO caps on and no highlight. , Did you just callme a liar? Kinda insulting . But we may be talking about a differant Fud article fudding . This is the one I referring to sir.

I doubt you will find I made anything up. Lets just say FUD got educated today.

http://www.fudzilla.com/games/item/21128-radeon-hd-6970-is-10-20-faster-than-gtx-480

Yup. different article. My apologies. You didn't have any link, or even have your text in quotes. So, I had no idea where the text came from or even that it wasn't your own. :sneaky:

And now, we need to decide if FUD's other "usually well informed sources" failed them with this new info as well. Still part of AMD's Fud campaign I think. Though why they are continuing with it I have no idea.

I think it's called not taking anything for granted. Or, "You'll never lose a fight by overestimating your opponent".

nVidia, given any pertinent info, would make use of it. Even if it's only last minute price reductions on competing models. Or, having their favorite board partner conjure up some magical O/C cards. Or, have a benchmark they've had time to optimize drivers for that AMD hasn't seen yet sent to the review sites for use in the 6900 reviews. Or... That's enough. I'm sure you get the idea.

I thought as much. Could you post the link that you assumed I was talking about from this topic. I be much interested in reading it. As for the new source . I would say some fella bobbed up and grab the guy by the balls very recently.

I'm curious as to why you think any of FUD's poor accuracy has to do with an AMD Fud campaign, or AMD at all, and not simply the failures of a website that gathers rumors and is repeatedly wrong regardless of the subject?

This is, after all, the site that recently reported on the 570 launch and stated the MSRP would be lower than it turned out to be. Part of Nvidia's Fud campaign? I think not.

I don't see why FUD is given so much attention beyond some idle speculation, with its track record and numerous recent misses to boot. Being right once in a while does not a trustworthy news site make.
