You can count me twice if you like. I gained a lot of weight this holiday season so far. LOL....

Hey Megaworks, who has the overall fastest single card solution between the Red and Green?
ATI right?
What card do you see in my sig?
Not ATI right?

I have my reasons and they are valid to me and that is what is important. So, if you feel the need to place me on one side versus the other, I could do worse than to be on "Team Nvidia" don't you think?

Now, I am going to play some HL2 on my 9700pro box. (It's my wife's rig).

Actually, I do see an ATI in your sig. But it seems to have the Suck burned right into the silicon.

Team Nvidia's got the numbers advantage, no question there. We also have the biggest center in the league now that we drafted Keys.

Why wouldn't it? Especially next month when nV41 (6800NUs) hit the market and 6800 GTs should be down to $400/each. If people will line up to pay $800 for one X800 XT PE on Ebay, I don't know why they wouldn't line up to pay $800 for a rig that will be a lot faster?

I don't know how much it will matter if nV48 is not released. Judging from the X850 XT PE review here, I don't think you'd be disappointed with a 6800Ultra. The only real differences were Doom 3 and HL2, and either card plays either game well anyway.

There is when its PCI-E only. And its actually widely available unlike the AGP XT/PE.

Also, who wouldnt want a XL? $350 for a 16 pipe card that at the present card speeds, is faster than the $400 12 pipe X850 Pro? Seems like a steal to me.

Besides the best bang for the buck is still 6800GT ($380) even with all the new ATI cards (at least on AGP platform).

False, the best bang for the buck is a card prices MUCH lower than $380.

I think a refresh of the 6800 cards would have been great.

They could shrink down the die to .11 reducing the heat output while upping the clock rate and also fix anything that may be broken with the video processor.

I don't want to spoil the team-calling, but my post was highly sarcastic--almost caustically so, in fact. Obviously no one around here invests in sarcasm detectors.

That's pretty cool, tho. I've gone from an ATi apologist to Team nVidia. Ah, the fickle winds of web forums....

neo, I think that's exactly what the NV41 is: a 12-pipe, PCIe-native NV40. Well, except for the 110nm part--I'm not sure about that. It would make sense, tho, given that's where ATI went with R430, and nV has experience with that process with the 6600GT.

Considering the proformance of the 6800 series, I don't think anything is "broken." It may slightly benifit the consumer having more choice on the market, but it would hurt us because we would be paying for the R & D to make a card 3% faster.

Vid cards cost too much in the first place. I paid 165 for my 9800pro and i am going to run it into the ground.

I'd like to get in on this team action.
Since i like my old fave cards, ATI, & the new Nvidias, i can't decide though.

Can i be on team NvidiATI?

I think dual gpus on one board would have a better chance. No need for a special motherboard. Don't ATI already make multi gpu cards for military stuff. There was the ragemaxx also. It did improve over a single rage 128pro. Too bad they didn't have good drivers and nvidia was just as fast with a single gpu.

I can not see how a company can abandon a line without some grief? Same with the x700 series that ATI seems to be abandoning. Too noisy and too slow it seems. Is an unforgiving business.
