Nvidia HDCP Support

I've just been reading about the HDCP Fiasco on current graphics cards.

I'm now in the market for a high-end graphics card from Nvidia (I'm not a fan of ATI) and was wondering if anyone knows if ANY of the Geforce range (or even due shortly cards, i.e. Geforce 7950X2) has the full HDCP support with the crypto key thing?

As of now, no cards do, except for a very limited amount of onboard graphics, namely Sony has at least one model with HDCP.

Is is known yet if the next generation of Nvidia cards, i.e. the Geforce 8000 series will have this?

Odds are yes, i dont think they'd be that stupid seeing that vista would be a couple months away.

It now appears that the new GeForce 7950X2 card will have the full HDCP support!

Why is everyone so quick to jump on this DRM strangled piece of crap? By NOT buying the tech that supports this we stand a better chance of it bombing and their Digital Restriction Management stop being so restrictive

HDCP isn't really important nor should it matter for you unless of course you want to be a tool and purchase products online that use this senseless technology preventing you from doing what you want to do with your stuff you bought. Just don't sweat it, in the big picture it shouldn't matter for you. Vista doesn't really require it but it may for blue-ray/HD-DVD, we'll see...

Agreed. Hopefully, Sony will sell millions of the entry-level PS3s that lack HDMI. With a large enough installed base of non-ICT capable PS3s out in the world, it will be very hard for Sony to turn on ICT without getting a class-action suit shoved down their throat by all the people who bought the $500 PS3.

That actually makes me think... for people who owns BFG or other brands that comes with a lifetime warrenty... maybe we can talk them into that advertising HDCP and not being able to do HDCP on current generation graphics cards is a defect and maybe be able to "trade-in" the card for a new version with the encryption chip? =P
