4 flagships in a generation, maybe more to come. There used to be only 1 flagship per gen and it was released first. They are making tons more money this way. They can do it without issue because there is absolutely no pressure from AMD at all. They are completely absent. Nvidia is living the dream right now. They can position their products in any way they want to, at any price point, and at a time of their choosing. Its unbelievable. I don't think they have ever experienced a time like this in their history. AMD is so weak, this has just never happened like this before, not that I can remember at least.

I doubt this has anything to do with Vega. Nvidia just realized wait a minute, people actually buy our $1200 cards so lets release another one.

I think it is more that the yields are good enough to be able to actually sell a fully enabled version.
Can only be sold through nvidia website. So, probably still very limited...
According to WCCFtech, it is highly likely that all three pascal based cards (titanx ,1080ti and titanxp) are the same die size.
And since the 1080 ti, there is no longer any real reason to buy a titanx.
A titanxp just has that little more for people who are willing to pay that much money.
titanxp also has the same TDP = 250W.

The graphics card has a price tag of $1200, which is the same as its predecessor and is available directly from the NVIDIA website. It is unknown at this point when the company will be looking towards AIBs to start selling these GPUs on their own. Keep in mind however, that traditionally, the TITAN brand has not been allowed to be introduced as a custom variant so there wont be much point in waiting for AIB variants anyways.

Also I mean what was Nvidia supposed to do with the full gp102 chips? Sell them in a cut down 1080ti? Why? That leaves $500 on the table. Of course this chip was coming and it has nothing to do with Vega. Amd has so many concerns below the$750 price tag before they get concerned with Nvidia halo product.
they were already selling a good amount of quadros with uncut dies

AMD has a really grim outlook on their hand. Their Vega graphic card is at least 3-4 months late now, with possibly additional 2 months before release.

I mean the 1080 is fast, but we all knew a 1080ti is coming and its actually 2-3% faster than the Titan X pascal, this would be around 8-10% faster than the 1080ti. So that means not only does Vega have to be faster than the 1080, but it has to be at least as fast as the 1080ti, though optimally if they want to capture the imaginations and have people going crazy about Vega it has to match the Titan xp and cost something like $700. So beat the 1080ti by 10% on average while costing the same.

I doubt Vega will be faster than the Titan xp though, it seems like a super high performance to be able to reach.

And how does amd catch back up? Multiple gpus on one card?

This might get worse before it gets better.

It has only 7% more theoretical calculation power...
Smells like fully functional dies.
And that for double the price.

Nvidia is an execution machine. Simple as that.

NVIDIA is living the dream because it built it. Plain and simple.

AMD isn't "weak" per se, NVIDIA is just crazy good.

And here we go again, just sold the last pair of Titan XPs for a single 1080ti as Arma 3 slower with XP SLI at 4k all ultra. I'm tempted but I suspect Vega will be very competitive otherwise why now? OK They need a HALO part they can milk us with, silly me.

Yah, monopolies are crazy good.... Especially for the consumers! In fact, they're so good that they used to be illegal.

Comments like this are baffling.... Do you really believe this?

Nv could have sold you this gpu last year. They could have sold it for $700. They would have done this if they had to compete with someone! What are you praising?

As much I hate Nvidia despite owning several of their cards I have to admit they are crazy good. They've only had 1 bad launch in their history (FX series) which was made to look worse due to a miracle card from ATI (9700 Pro). Beyond that, they've had solid releases year after year.

How do you equate Nvidia being a well run company to a monopoly being good for consumers in that brain of yours?
Well run monopoly, which is obviously bad for consumers. It's called sarcasm.

So did NVidia use the original Titan XP vapor chamber chassis for this new Titan Xp, or did it use the improved redesigned version that it has for the GTX 1080 Ti?

I haven't had a blower type cooler in years, so I'm hoping I can squeeze some good performance out of it from overclocking.

That being superior to your competitor is a monopoly?

Sad.

Funny I've heard nothing but "Nvidia has no competition in the high end" for at least a year now on these boards.
