NVIDIA killed off Image Sharpening for 8800's.

I just tried this sharpening option on my CRT and even with it only adjusted one click up it makes text look terrible ,especially on this forum.. I guess it might be useful if your monitors image is soft / losing focus.

Dude, I just posted that it only makes games look better, and that it looks terrible in Windows!
Also, it's NOT the monitor because it made a big difference in games on my CRT and the new LCD I just got for Christmas (before I popped in the 8800).
Why do I even bother? Somoene always posts something stupid without reading the thread.

Why you'd use this on an LCD with DVI is beyond me.

I'll need to try it out and see what it does on my secondary rig. I can't imagine how it would make games look better, but I have seen other cases of weird filters like this that do provide an improvement in some games.

IS makes your desktop look terrible, but 1-3 notches of it can give games a boost in IQ. Try it in games with especially blurry textures, like Doom 3 Engine games. I also find that 3 notches of IS makes Counter-Strike: Source really pop. However, if you're judging IS by how it makes the text on your desktop look, then yes, it will look like ass.

Chill out I was just stating my opinion, not everyone reads every single post before replying, I recently adjusted the focus pots on my CRT so its already beyond razor sharp by default , any extra sharpening added by the videocard just doesnt look right on it (even with games), another factor might be that its a 24" screen so any artifacts it causes are easily noticed, Everyones milage will vary.
