Even o/c'd the rig to 3GHz. So far not any problems you guys are describing. So what's up?
Yusux: I haven't tried Ambient Occlusion in UT3, so I can't comment on that yet. I'll give it a try.
geoffry: Something is wrong with the configuration of your system if you BSOD while at the desktop.
Yusux: Reduction in clocks? What are your temps under full 3D load?
cmdrdredd: You have a 295 as well. What issues are you having? What OS?
False Christian: What do you mean you had no profiles? I have literally hundreds of profiles. Did you uncheck "Show only programs found on this computer" ??
Ya, the NVDA drivers...
If everything is rock solid stable until I change the drivers I think its safe to say its the drivers.
Then can you explain why my rig doesn't BSOD at desktop? Same driver, no?
Not saying you don't have a problem. You surely do, BUT, to BSOD at the desktop is YOUR systems configuration issue. If it was the driver, everybody would be BSOD at desktop.
This is where I wish everyone had a spare blank hard drive lying around. Fresh install of your flavor of Windows, all drivers, and poof!! Problems disappear (short of hardware issues). If your OS has a "history" of driver revisions and updates, you have more of a chance for something to go very wrong than someone with a fresh start. I just had mega problems with Vista32 last week. I was messing with driver changes too much (going back and fourth from 180's to 190's) and my system kept locking up time after time after time. I got fed up and formatted, installed Win7 64 bit (random choice), 190.62's. Stable ever since in all games listed above. I even remember locking up twice at the desktop in the Vista 32 setup. Not cool. But, it was MY doing. Messing with things far too much as no "average" user would do.
pcslookout: Using Win7 without any crashes..... yet. And I think I've tried a fair amount of games here.
