How far of could Nvidia next GPU be, nothing can tax the 8800GTX with direct x 9.0c and with direct x 10 being 8 times more efficient, therefore quicker at same standard graphics or better detail at same tax to GPU.

Heard, cryis all the way up one 8800GTX can hit 60+FPS on 30 inch 1980 x 1200.
With CPU's needing to catch up with the GPU's, could the next Nvidia card be a long way out another year or more?

Well, you've got the 8800 Ultra which has been paper launched and will have availability by May 15th. If you want 5-10% more performance than the GTX for 50% more price, the Ultra is for you.

Everyone thought nVidia would have launched an 80nm refresh of the 8800's by now; this hasn't happened and with the Ultra just being released it is going to be a while. I would bet on at least 3-4 months before we see a faster nVidia card, depending on how R600 competes with G80 and whether or not the XTX is launched and able to beat a GTX/Ultra.

Please stop making so many topics viper.... this is your third (I believe) topic in the last few minutes in Video.

Only if you play at low resolution or ignore features such as TRAA. Crank up all the IQ options in games like Oblivion or Serious Sam 2, and you get the 8800u getting average fps in the 20's and 30's at 1600x1200.

I'll believe that when I see it. With DX10 there can be less cpu and driver overhead, but when your gpu is crunching shaders as fast as it can, I doubt you'll see any significant speed increase from DX10.

Plenty of rumors have turned out to be false in the past

An x6800 will be more than a match for the 8800gtx in most games at 1600x1200 and higher, read here:http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/gef...gtx_gts_core_2_performance/default.asp

I expect a refresh of the 8800 series no later than fall 2007.
