NDA expires in 1.5 hours. They will be getting the boards later today. TigerDirect has them though.

I suggest waiting for reviews, folks. We dont even know how mature the BIOSes are on these mobos yet. Remember the Conroe 965s and 570s when they came out? They had alot of problems in the beginning due to immature BIOSes.

I'd like to know when DFI plans to release their 680i. The last piece of the puzzle for my new system.

Last I heard was that DFI planned on a launch towards end of November. Not sure if thats for the 680i model or a different model though. Lot of rumors going about.

According to 680i reviews I've seen, you can run FSB and memory speeds either linked or unlinked, and you can also run the FSB faster than the memory, which means you don't need expensive memory to achieve a high FSB.

On a sidenote, does anyone know if the 680i/650i chipsets allow multiplier unlocking?

Same with me. Ordered from Mwave around noon since website said in stock. Called them and asked if mobo would be sent out yesterday. 1st person said "yes", but if not then today. 2nd person said "yes" it would go out (yesterday). I checked back today since my order was still processing and they said it wasn't sent out cuz they ran out yesterday! Customer service obviously isn't the best nor is the stock system. I cancelled the order and ordered via ****** for $20 less today. Called to confirm stock first and mobo should be going out today.

EDIT:

And Mobo DID go out today! Should have it by Monday! Goin to be a longgggg weekend

Finally a decent C2D mobo worth upgrading from my ASRock 775DualVSTA. Now I just have to wait for the prices to level out.

I will go ahead and leak what I have gathered from the internet....here is the scoop on who is doing what with the 680i

"Official" 680i Mobo list at this moment in time....and places to get them....

Evga - 680i ------------- THIS BOARD IS MADE BY FOXCONN (news leaked on dailytech)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16813188009

Asus - Striker Extreme
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produ...ductCode=247121

Asus - P5N32-E SLI
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16813131073

BFG - 680i <<<<< only $250 after rebate.
http://www.compusa.com/products/pro...la=&cm_ite=feed

Abit - IN9 32X-MAX - cannot find on sale yet
http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb...ies=1&model=333

GIGABYTE - GA-N680SLI-DQ6 - not yet on sale
http://www.hardwarezone.com/news/view.php?id=5902&cid=4
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/News/Mot...spx?NewsID=1303

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Produc...nuID=93&LanID=9
http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4932

Biostar - TF680i SLI Deluxe
http://www.hardware.info/en-US/news...LI_motherboard/

MSI / XFX both have boards coming out and this is the insider info I found...
December time frame at this time although that could slip a little. I will get to see an engineering sample at DFI next week. Abit is saying January for their board but they are trying to move it in currently. It appears MSI, Gigabyte, and Asus all will be in December at this time although we do not have firm schedules yet.
Quoted from Anandtech forums.

The cheapest board is the BFG coming in @ $250 from CompUSA of all places.
If you find more....add them to the list guys! Fold on.......

$399

I am buying the 975x P5W DH.......way cheaper, every bit of feature I need. Some people have some stable running 680i machines, but some people are also having a bitch of a time setting them up. If you buy a combo that is known to work you most likely won't have issues. I will be able to buy another phatty for the Yorksfield / Wolfdale with the cost of those Republic of Gamer boards.

680i will support a lot of the newer CPU's, but you know by the time the Kentsfield, Yorksfield, and Wolfdale will have better running chipsets from Intel.

Only thing the 680i is good for is if you plan on spending $2000 on Nvidia graphics card's and physics card's and plan on not running a single PCI device (good bye real sound cards, tv tuners, and 3ware raid cards). In which cause you make me richer because I got Nvidia stock $19.15 and it currently broke the $34 barrier it was hitting...and is now setting 52wk highs weekly. So please...go buy 680i chipsets and 8800GTX's. Nvidia just reported its best financial quarter ever just a week or two ago. Its almost to $36 today...

The striker retails anywhere between $325 - $400. The other 680i boards are more reasonable. Still sucks that the Striker is STILL backordered. I just want the damn thing so I can finish my build. I have $2500 worth of parts I can't use until I get it. :|
