The fact that it's not listed under the memory spec. Yes, I understand 1200Mhz was under sli-memory, but seems a little odd none the less.

SLI Memory

Thats a long heatpipe system on that sucker. I wonder how thats going to perform? The reason why few pictures are availble on all the new mobos is most likely due to the NDAs still in place.

well, to be honest, if something performs very well companies usually leaking the good news and "injecting" forums with stuff like "this is the best thing since sliced bread" and also as always somebody gets a sample months before the release and tells us how good this thing performs...

Intel's Conroe for example. We all knew that it will be a killer. Nothing was known about AM2 almost until the release, cause it sucked. Well, these are CPUs.

If company knows that its product going to rock it will try to keep customers to hold on with other purchases and wait for their own release but for a good reason. So far I do not see any good reasons, except a few posts like: Performance: D, FSB will be able to handle 500+. However, no proofs cause of NDA... Hello, the release in on November 8th!

I truly hope that I'm wrong and 680i will be the best thing since sliced bread but I need to see the results.

True, but it probably won't matter to most people except new builders. Few people will toss their stable and already tested P965/975x boards for a new and unknown board. It could have tons of driver and compatability problems to start, and it would require a windows reinstall.

For those of us who already have a C2D they won't be buying these new mobos more than likely.

I'm wondering what this board is going to cost, well actually I'm afraid of what it's going to cost, lol. I'm running an Asus P5N-SLI (570 based) and cannot wait to get rid of it. I will say it's rock stable but it's s.l.o.w. The 680i should be much better all the way around. I'm really looking forward to either an Asus or DFI to finally get my BFG 7900GTX OC's running at x16 x16 along with hopefully fixing other issues!

But really how tried and true are the DS3 and P5B?
Neither seem worth my $150+ compared to the $100 spent on my DFI ULTRA-D..

That said I'm on the verge of going C2D and can't decide what to do..
I'd like to get the best bang/buck, thought some $230 3-3-3-8 667 D9 type ram
could take advantage of higher fsb's and go just for the e6300 instead of the e6400
with whatever mobo but at what point will you loose the 1:1 anyways and not need the 1066
or 1333 settings?

My safe route was getting a e6400, p5b deluxe (would prefer the 8-phase) or ds3, with that 3-3-3 ram making a 850 fsb (3.4Ghz) a good goal for a happy/stable o/c with an artic freezer 7 pro and some nice 120mm casefans.. but that's not near the $550 budget i set on CPU/MB/RAM

any ideas about the near future of the ram market?

well bite me for i am about to quote the register:

"The boards based on it should be announced on the 8th, together "

just like others who said they would be released along side the g80's release date.

Now i hope announced == a hard launch

Anyone notice in Today's AnandTech QuadCore article they are using a BadXae2 mobo for the test bed? I so want to see a review of that mobo! What can you tell us, Gary??

We expect a retail sample at the end of the month. 1333 strap is implemented. We will compare it, 680i, and RD600 around 12/3 or sooner depending upon delivery.

I believe December was the target date for the 680i. If I remember correctly, DFI had stated their Nvidia board would be ready by that time.

Same here, but nForce 590 will have to do (not that my choice in motherboard matters that much to me. I AM upgrading when G80 comes out, provided there isn't too much price gouging - I don't care what happens ><.

680i from the initial board partners in a week or so, RD600 very shortly, and BadAxe2 in retail by the end of the month, maybe earlier, maybe later. 680i will be supported by just about everyone with rollouts from different suppliers starting sometime after the elections and going into December.

Gary, who else are the initial board partners besides EVGA?

Gotta be ASUS as they had the pics and specs up and I'm hoping DFI. Those are the ones I'm interested in. Does eVGA have any experience making full featured, fast, stable (ie, enthusiast) boards?

Sorry, I am under NDA for those specifics.
