Something tells me that the Dutch site got megapixels/megatexels mixed up. Assuming that the clockspeed will be about 300 MHz, NV20 needs 16 pixel pipelines to get 4800 mpixels/sec...four times that of GF and GF2. It's more likely that they meant 4800 mtexels/sec. That gives two probable configs:

- 4 pixel pipelines/4 texture units per pipeline: 1200 mpixels/sec, 4800 mtexels/sec
- 8 pixel pipelines/2 texture units per pipeline: 2400 mpixels/sec, 4800 mtexels/sec

Nonetheless, the specs kick a$$.

sohcan- the figures could also be effective fill-rates after hsr is applied. the limiting factor is, again, memory bandwidth, so it would be very unrealistic if these were actual fill-rate numbers. if theres only 2x overdraw not much better than a gf2u would be needed to produce these numbers, and from what i've seen overdraw is commonly higher than that.

Sohcan, specs mean jack, real world performance is what we want to know. At least someone from Nintendo has integrity and came out and said that the GameCube only can really push 6-12 million polygons per second in game performance, <*crowd hushes in awe and amazement that they have been deceived all along*>. So let me ask you something, if ATI (which is a big company) is only pushing 6-12 million polygons per second in the "real world" on a next generation platform, what does that tell you about NVidia's hyped up 150 million polygon per second number? One word...BS.

I'm gunna pay it. If the specs are about right. Gotta do something with 2D though!

Gosh this is just perfect timing!

I was sitting in my Differential Equations class thinking, "Man, I sure would like to get some info on the NV20. I can't wait to see what that thing will do." I come back, and BAM there's some info on it!

As to the integrity of the information, I don't know. But at least it gives us something to yack about!

Bring it!

Read the sig!

hidden surface removal. takes out all the polygons that a normal renderer would draw, but the camera can't see. i think nvidia is doing it by moving the z-buffer point up in the rendering process.

"isn't it being delayed till summer 2001?"

Who said that? This isn't 3dfx we're talking about.

Anand never said with absolute certainty that the nv20 would be out in spring '01, it was merely his approximation:

<< according to NVIDIA the NV20 will be out in 4 to 8 months from the release of the GeForce2 Ultra (September). This places the release of the NV20 about 6 months from when the Ultra hits the streets which can be as early as January or as late as May. >>

This would mean that the nv20 is only about a month early. With that said, I find the specs very hard to believe, and even if they were true, wouldn't spend $500 on a video card.

I wouldn't spend that much on a VC anymore either, but it does mean things like the GF2Ultra will be lowered in price.

People who pay 500-750 for a NON COMMERCIAL video card need to have their heads examined

And I cannot believe that we're are jumping to conclusions with unproven rumors. Just wait until the card gets here, then judge whether it's awesome or not.

This would be immensly cool. I love seeing huge advances in no time at all. Three times faster minimum than a GTS? Wonderful. Bring it on baby.

You underestimate the buying public. How many people plunked down $600 for SLI?? Flocks of 'em. How many here sware by the Voodoo 5 6000. Quite a few.

I don't know how many, do you have the sales figures?

IMHO, $500 for a graphics card is crazy. My V3-2K is still fine for all the PC games that I play (mostly UT and a bit of Q3), and I expect it to work just fine for Warcraft 3 (which is the only upcoming PC game that I'm interested in). Instead of wasting money on a new video card, I bought myself a Dreamcast and couldn't be happier. CPU upgrade? I'll be buying a Playstation 2 instead, thank you very much.

Good point. A Video card that costs twice the cost of a WHOLE console system? Sorry, That is WAY WAY WAY to expensive.

Of course it's too much, but people will buy it...they always have and they always will
