And to answer my own question, it's not fixed yet :|

Damnit, i was hoping they'd fix that so i wouldn't have to disable DEP.

Man, that blows. I hope I don't have the same issues.

500 points?! I only got a 16 point increase in 3DMark03 from switching 66.81 to 66.93. Doom 3 performance stayed about the same. Not sure if the switch was all that worth it. Maybe some stability issues down the road.

He said 05 not 03. the 61.77's suck for 05 while any of the newer ones have good gains.

Well, since every nVIDIA driver i've tried since the old 61.77s hasn't worked with DEP, i finally gave up & disabled DEP.
Thanx nVIDIA :disgust:

To clarify, you won't likely have the problem unless you play UT. That seems to be the only big game it affects. Of course, that's all i play, so to me that's pretty big.

Well here is my results:

66.81 - fresh boot, run 3d'05 = 5250
Uninstalled drivers, rebooted, installed new ones, rebooted, adjusted clocks to match the first run (425/1100) reran 3d'05 = 5245.. margin of error blah blah (plus i didn't do a fresh boot before running, had run powerstrip and rivatuner and stuff on the same boot)

One thing I did notice however, the new drivers have clock frequency settings built in without having to use coolbits. Another thing, and this is a biggie, my detect optimal frequencies give much much higher clocks than before. Previous drivers wouldnt give me mem clocks much over 1100.. now they give me like 1176. Core is up to 428 as well.

update: well running at the detected frequencies gives me a better score, but also comes with very minor artifacts.. but overall i can get higher than before without them. just gonna sit on 425/1150 and be happy.

this is all on a 6800 Limited Edition, flashed to a GT bios.

Was using 61.77's. Playing Painkiller at 1600x1200x32 4x/8x. Installed 66.93's. Painkiller became unplayable. Horrible frame frates. Didn't run benchmarks. Don't need to. Went from smooth to slide show. Reinstalled 61.77's.

Man, I'm having serious issues with my 6800 Ultra, what are you talking about, DEP? Sorry if it's obvious, I'm just really tired cause I just got done redoing the wiring in my pc and taking the water cooling out (was drawing a bit of power) in a last ditch effort to get D3 and CS:Source running...

Why are you jealous? You know the beta is open from now until thanksgiving right? You can download it too.

Though 2.5 gigs through bt takes about a day and a half.

You can download it but unless you got a beta key on monday you cant create an account and play

Luckily for me I ended up getting a beta key and have been playing the last couple of nights.

Well guys looks like this thread is going to change.

Link

Beta 67.50's. Just what we need a new driver set. I have heard nothing about them, so anyone willing to try it would be much appreciated.

Nah...I think I'll let some other sucker screw up their display drivers for the better of the entire community. As for me, I'm sticking with the 66.93's, cause they're official.

Oh yes, I know all about the DEP issue. What astonishes me is that this official driver has the same problem. I can't believe that nVidia are not aware of the problem.

I've disabled DEP too because the new drivers have some very large performance gains in Doom 3 and Painkiller and hence I want to keep them.

likely have the problem unless you play UT.
Basically anything using the core Unreal 2 engine (Unreal 2, UT2003, UT2004) has about a 50% chance of rebooting the computer when you quit it.

What is DEP?

Edit: Am I the only one that experienced horrible performance in Painkiller? Slide show frame rates and blurry textures? I'd like to hear from others.
