We should wait till the new generations hit the market and are tested. Then everyone will find a new metric that will justify the purchase of the favorite brand (as usual).

All I want is a card that consumes 100w or less and performs better than my GTX 960 currently. I dont have a 30lb tower. I have a mini-ITX build so space and power consumption are the most important factors.

http://www.computerbase.de/2016-04/tsmc-20-prozent-wafer-umsaetze-16-nm-fertigung/

TSMC brief that it's 16nm FF will rise to reach ~20% of it's revenue in the coming months, and above that by year's end.

Predominantly mobile SOCs, in particular Apple as the new iPhone will be exclusively 16nm TSMC and not dual sourced like prior models with contribution from Samsung. Basically TSMC's production of 16nm is now enough to actually meet the needs of Apple.

PC GPUs are last on the list as usual for a new node.

This is the major reason why I don't agree with the GP102 rumors. It would eat into valuable 16nm wafers that NV could use to make GP100 and get big-time profits as $10-15K Teslas.

Because of this competition for 16nm wafers, not just from Apple but pretty much everybody else too, I don't expect prices will be good for gamers.

From the looks of it? Q1 for a Tesla.

The looks of it, screams Fermi. Ring a bell?

P100 is shipping in June 2016. For OEM servers its Q1 2017 yes. But they are bottom of the barrel.

So Nvidia will ship GP100, GP104, GP106 and GP107, perhaps even before AMD ships its first 2 Polaris chips.

Yeah so did Fermi, it shipped to special contracts first for many months before it became available to the wider public.

This TSMC update, from officials just confirms how slow they are to ramp up 16nm. Last year they said on track to a much higher target and now it's 20% for the year.

Who believes there's a GP102?? Good luck with a big gaming chip competing for 16nm wafers with everyone and GP100 Teslas. -_-

Fottemberg said: TSMC has problems with assembly of the interposer. Secondly, that Nvidia has very few slots for production of the chips, and has to make choices with that in mind.

It was also him who provided us with correct roadmap of Nvidia releases.

I tend to believe more Fottemberg's words.

I am sure you do. Because he says what you wish to hear.

Seems to be 4 weeks left to reviews of Pascal GeForce cards.

We will see who is correct soon enough

Yep, I'll stand by my prediction like I stated a long time ago. No big Pascal for consumers until well into 2017. That's now almost 100%.

I also think NV will paper-launch (very low volume, seeding reviewers and some to retail) GP104 to steal AMD's thunder for Polaris, they won't have mass availability until Q3+.

What's interesting about release dates is that so many posters on here are being proven dead wrong on their Pascal shipping predictions, saying Nvidia wouldn't be ready until Q3 and would be many months behind AMD.

What else is left to surprise all the armchair fortune tellers?

I'll be glad when all of these new cards are finally on the shelves so everyone can move on to the next round of inane debates. "Power usage? Whatever. I got clockspeeeeed!"

In the end nothing has been proven either way yet. Best to just sit back and relax and wait it out. For amusement we get to read some silly comments from both sides. Fact or fiction with a dose of fud in the mix is somewhat entertaining at times.

Would be ironic if Pascal actually arrived on desktops earlier than Polaris, low volume or not (grabs popcorn).

GP104 may be revealed before Polaris doesnt mean we'll be able to buy one before Polaris. Also, AMD will definitely have more than 3 months lead in Laptops with Polaris 11 over competitive Pascal SKUs (GP106/107).

I wouldn't be so sure if I were you:

Pascal-based GM204 & GM206 successors set to launch shortly after Computex

Sweclockers @ Translate said:
When the introductions are supposed to take place so far has been shrouded in mystery, but now vBulletin reveal that Nvidia has set his sights on the summer. More specifically, the company intends to announce the architecture Pascal for consumers at Computex 2016, which focused primarily will be on gaming notebooks.

...As the focus of the launch of Pascal is expected to be on laptops, it's probably not about GP100 - the next monster circuit with an assumed number of transistors on the whole 17 billion . Instead, it is probably an outright replacement for GM204 and GM206, which is used by the Geforce GTX 965M up to the GTX 980th

NVIDIA Pascal “Mobility GeForce” GPUs Arriving in Mid-June – Pitched For Back To School Season

According to information posted by Sweclockers, it is suggested that NVIDIA’s Pascal GPUs will be arriving in mid-June for mobility platforms. Knowing that AMD will also have Polaris based GPUs ready for Mid-2016, it will be good to see more options to select from on notebook platforms. NVIDIA and AMD will be eyeing the Back to School season for the wide availability of their next generation GPUs in notebooks so retail availability by mid of June is a must.

According to the report, NVIDIA has internally disclosed a shipping date of 16th June to their partners for Pascal mobility GPUs. The products would be announced and put on display at Computex 2016 before that which starts in first week of June. In regards to the naming scheme of the new Pascal chips, we have no confirmation on hints. Since the last cards used the GeForce 900 series branding, one would suggest that NVIDIA will use the GeForce 1000 series naming for the new cards but that might not be the case. After the GeForce 9 series cards, NVIDIA jumped to the 200 series nomenclature, since this is the end of the GeForce 900 series, NVIDIA could introduce a new branding for their cards.
