Sorry to "Burst your bubble", but it has already been stated that the MSRP for GTX 1080 is $599. As in they can not, and will not be sold (new anyway) for anything below that.

Nvidia sells GPU's. A company that buys those GPU's and integrates them into a video card can sell that video card for as much or as little as they want.

Technically true, but in practice, the bill of materials is probably high enough that going too far below $599 just wouldn't be worth it.

Heads up to all who uses more than 2 cards. Looks like the 1080 and 1070 only have official support for 2 way SLI. I stumbled upon this while searching about the high bandwidth bridge. The new bridge apparently uses both fingers on the cards.

I can confirm that the older SLI bridges will work, but the performance will not be as high as with the new bridge.

I know! I asked him if he was going to quad 1080s to replace his TitanXs last week and now I know why he hasn't responded!

Seriously AdamK47 has for quite sometime always had the newest and fastest quad Nvidias in his rig. I've heard but not yet seen proof of the claim that the GTX 1080 is faster than the Titan X, but is Nvidia and JHH going to say 2 GTX1080s is faster or even equal to Quad TitanXs?

I don't think so.

Looks like someone has to wait till the big Pascals (probably derivatives of the P100) drop.

Some interesting info by Oj010, who has nice record of Intel/AMD/NVIDIA leaks in the past:

For what it's worth, async is not yet enabled on the 1080 in current drivers.

3-way and 4-way SLI has never had good scaling, 2-way on these new cards is INSANE.

Many GTX 1070s will do 10 GHz effective on the memory.

The memory on the 1070 is nicely overclockable, expect to see some hitting 10 GHz effective.

He also mentioned Polaris 10 was delayed to October. For some reason the (rumour) thread was locked in a matter of seconds here, while people are still discussing it all over different tech forums.

Woof, I hope those aren't their AMP editions. I hit the GPU lottery with my Zotac 980 Ti was thinking of giving them another shot.

I like the sound of SLI scaling being "insane", although I thought a lot of that had to do with drivers and the game etc. Even with the old SLI connector, some games had damn near 100% scaling. It depended on the game. Maybe they knew they were hitting a bandwidth limit and decided its time to release a new bridge. That may explain the declining SLI performance lately compared to crossfire?
They could have just gone the bridgeless route like AMD, but they can't be seen as following AMD's lead. Too bad they didn't just do it like AMD though.

Well that settles that! This has me confused now. I'd like to see the SLI reviews and in depth analysis of how the new SLI bridge compares to the old ones, especially with 3 and 4 way since those used both fingers on the PCB as well.

They're not 3 and 4 way bridges. They're for different slot spacing of two cards.

The largest bridge wouldn't even allow 4 way with that size. It's to account for wanting 2 PCIE slots between the two cards. Also the silhouettes are only showing connectors for two cards in each size design.

Those are all 2-way SLI bridges. The reason the sizes differ is to accommodate different PCIe spacing. NV ran the VR Works demo with a custom 3-Way bridge but the 3rd 1080 was only a dedicated PhysX card.

Since 2 SLI fingers are required for 2GB/sec, you cannot have HB beyond 2 cards while retaining HB.
