Correct me if I'm worng

It does look a little below the average which is about 35% but it's possible the boost clocks were low.

According to techpowerup a 2ghz 1080ti at 4k averages about 17.35% faster than 1080 Ti FE and about 57.9% faster than 1080 FE.

It's likely the RTX cards were measured at something high like 1850mhz-2000mhz. So keep that in mind. If we assume that then the 2080 Ti in reality is only about 18-22% faster

Oh, thanks

Nevertheless, comparing core configuration between GTX 1080 Ti and RTX 2080, looks like there are some big changes in architecture even when it comes to gaming

Your opening sentence indicated you didn't know if the data source was legitimate. I was pointing out where the data source was coming from whilst also emphasizing that these are from Nvidia marketing and thus should not be taken as results from independent analysis.
NVIDIA's reviewer guide are always pretty accurate. So is AMD by the way.

You're using the HDR YUV422 numbers, not the SDR numbers.
Yeah it is only 23%.Didnt Nvidia claims 1080Ti is Best TI ever and is 35% faster than 1080 in 4K????

they maybe using 1080Ti NV marketing special edition downclocked to 1500Mhz.Thats why its only 23% average faster LOL

Semantics. Non gaming demos played for all. They might as well have pre-rendered them because "real-time" non-gaming isn't gaming in real-time.
LOL! What? All RTX games were playable on the show and open for public to play them and measure fps and switch RTX on and off. Have you been living under a rock or what? And I mean all the games: BFV, Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus .. etc.
Some numbers are way off.
Bf1-only 15% gap between 1080TI and 1080 at 4k??? -36% in techpowerup review https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1080_Ti_Gaming_X_Trio/7.html
F1 2018-again only 21% gap.In guru3d review there is 33% gap https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/f1_2018_pc_graphics_performance_benchmark_review,6.html
Mass effect-only 19% gap....
SW battlefront2-15% gap??????
For BF1 and SWBF2: some of the maps are CPU limited, shrinking the difference between cards.
Also beware the tests were performed on i7 7900X. Not the best choice I might add. Though it shouldn't matter when testing @4K.

From Videocardz's leaked Nvidia numbers at 4K (SDR where applicable):
GTX 1080: 100%
GTX 1080 Ti: 127%
RTX 2080: 144%
RTX 2080 Ti: 182%

My original estimates before launch:
How much faster per clock must the new Turing be for RTX 2080 to be faster than the GTX 1080 Ti?

Anyway, my estimates on relative performance (at 3840x2160):
GTX 1080: 100%
GTX 1080 Ti: 135%
RTX 2080: 140%
RTX 2080 Ti: 180%

Let's see how wrong I am on Monday. Well, I'll have to wait for reviews but Nvidia usually comes up with some estimates too.

Tom petersen says the average 2080 ti hits 2130 mhz on the FE cooler while remaining cool and quiet. Are you saying he's lying?
he also said 2080Ti is 35~45% faster than 1080Ti.
What is happening here is that NVIDIA is comparing ref 1080Ti to ref 2080Ti. If you have the reviewer guide you would that info. There is no downclocking or throttling or overclocking going on.

I see you are arguing with a strawman again. Does nvidia pay you to be their defender on this forum?

What's the die size of the 2080? If it's the same or bigger than a 1080ti, then it's not much of an accomplishment if nv are just playing name games.

Its not cpu limited because 2080Ti is faster than 2080.Those numbers just dont make any sence. There is no way 1080Ti is only 23% faster than 1080 in 4K average in 7 games.I call those 4K sdr results bullshit.
Normal 4k results looks normal and 1080TI is faster than 1080 :
pug-26%
Rainbow six-30%
tomb raider-34%
witcher3-32%
wolf-33%
1080TI average 31% faster than 1080.In those games 1080TI is very close to 2080 only in wolf2(fp16/vulcan) and rainbow siege(AMD game) is bigger gap.

Now compare this to 4K SDR results where 1080Ti is somehow only 23% faster than 1080
Bf1-15%
F1-21%
COD-37%
Hitman-27%
Mass effect-19%
midle earth-27%
SW Bf2-15%
1080TI average 23% faster than 1080.2080 looks here way better because 1080TI does not perform how it should.

You can play Infiltrator (which you brought up)? News @ 10. Back to you Chuck. The demos in the JHH keynote were not games. When the games came out they were 30-60 FPS @ 1/4 res. That's my point. JHH pep talk vs reality. No one would care at all if the prices were right. The Nvidia train would keep moving, but that's not what is happening here. All of the features are having to be SOLD. This entire launch is extremely unlike Nvidia. The fact that it's not a foregone conclusion for Nvidia buyers to buy another Nvidia card this gen is an aberration. There is an actual debate between just Nvidia buyers if it is worth it. This launch is suspect.

^^

Have to agree. If it was 499/599 for the 2080 and 799 for the 2080 Ti people wouldn't be complaining. Understandably that isn't going to happen with the big die size. The way nVidia is acting they are conscious of this.

THE DEMOS WERE PLAYABLE AND AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC ON THE SHOW FLOOR. Am I speaking another language or what? 30-60 fps @ 1080p because developers are still doing optimizations.

My gut feeling was that DLSS uses lower resolution, but didn't want to make a fool of myself on the forums, lol.
SS methods always render at higher resolutions. This time around they render at a lower resolution and the NeuralNetwork upscales it. So the reverse but with additional clever magic.
If it had worked on native resolution NV should have named it DLAA. So all in all, proper name, but it was confusing on the slides earlier because of the limited info.

Not bad with those numbers I may be interested in getting one, although I don't even play on 4k yet.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 ‘official’ performance unveiled

https://videocardz.com/77983/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-and-rtx-2080-official-performance-unveiled

This is with no DLSS on, that's pretty good.

Looks pretty good. 2080 looks more consistently above 1080Ti than I expected.

Of course some are jumping on some specific benchmarks to complain something is wrong with 1080Ti scores, but NVidia is obviously comparing to 1080ti FE cards, not faster AIB cards.

I am not going to track all the individual benches down, but I checked the overlap with the Anand 1080Ti FE review.
https://www.anandtech.com/show/11180/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-review/10
https://www.anandtech.com/show/11180/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-review/13

For the games I spotted in both sets: Witcher 3 and Hitman, there seems essentially the same 1080-1080Ti delta as in the NVidia guide numbers, so they don't appear to be sandbagging the GTX1080Ti numbers to make 2080 look better.
