So apparently EVGA is releasing a really cheap build of the 2070 at the actual MSRP. This puts it at the same price or even cheaper than the 1080 at the same performance or slightly higher depending on title and resolution.

Not likely for a long time. What's your interpretation of "initial rush"? 2080's have been for sale since day 1 and still easily available but the prices haven't changed at all. They want to sell their Pascals for full price still as well. The 2070 is cheaper so will sell more? Probably a bit yes but the value is still very questionable for RTX, especially as we drop below 2080 since there's zero quantifiable data on the performance of the RTX components. Again it's just gambling that the RTX tax will be of benefit at all beyond some DLSS with questionable quality and zero current implementations.

The 2070 just reinforces the fact that consumers should either wait for some titles to be available to actually test these features, or go to the used market to get a Pascal that will either be much cheaper (1080 for $300+) or faster and still cheaper (1080ti), depending on their current hardware (I bought a 1080 Xtreme for $350 after RTX launch, upgrading from my 970). Consumers targeting the 2070 are obviously not willing to pay $800+ for a GPU and thus are currently likely on a 1060 or 980 or lower. Anyone with a 1070 or higher wouldn't be considering a 2070, especially with no RTX feature data.
Guru 3d has reviewed 2 cards (MSI and Asus) both have the $499 msrp

Which is still to expensive. The 970 and 1070 were within 50 dollars of each other at launch (329 vs 379). Now its replacement, the 2070, is $500 for the base price that very few will see. While the majority will be 550-600+.

Yeah I already posted above.
How likely are they to actually sell at MSRP?
Depends on demand really. Online stores like Newegg and Amazon usually adjust prices automatically based on demand anyway. I wonder if they'll pull an AMD and have a set quantity of cards at MSRP for launch then once they're sold the price goes up.

The tinfoil hat in me wonders if Nvidia pushed for a couple of really cheap versions from AIBs to appease the MSRP since it was bullshit for 2080/ti launch even though it basically makes the 1080 useless and the AIBs are still left with a lot of them.

The reality is these $499 2070s will hardly be available in any kind of decent quantities and technically they might as well not exist because no one will be able to buy them for a few months. This is just for show to make the reviews look better. $499 2070 is a paper product unless proven otherwise.

Why so? If I were looking at building a system and was planning on getting a 1080, wouldn't it make more sense to get a 2070 instead if they're the same price?
I was operating under the belief that they'd sell for 100 USD less but I am apparently wrong

I feel nvidia will wait for clearance and just instantly make the 2070 a value proposition with a major cut, or at least I am hoping

nVidia has never really cared about being the value proposition, so I would not expect them to care now.

What an absolute pile of horse crap this 2070 is, lol. $5-600? Get the hell out of here with this garbage. What a complete joke of not only a GPU release with the 2070, but the entire "RTX family" is so insulting it's just hilarious. Pathetic. The industry has gone straight to hell because the whole thing is in the hands of one company. This hobby has gone full dumpster fire bad.

Seriously, when I think of the RTX cards, here is how I feel. This is the emotional response I get:

You reach into a hot trash can in the middle of a hot summer day. You feel something wet, squishy and slimy. The smell is making your stomach lurch up and down as you try to prevent loosing your lunch. You pull it out and hold it right up in the air to get a good look at it. As it drips on your face and runs between the cracks of your teeth, you realize it says "RTX 2070" on the side of it.

So yeah, it feels like that.

2070 is uninspiring. Between it and the 1080 I'd still buy the 2070 because all indications are its going to be better at Vulkan and DX12 plus the other Volta-era goodies on it. I suspect the RTX performance will be so low as to be unusable. The tensors might still work out to be useful. The real star of the show will be the microarch changes from Volta now on Turing. But the price is disappointing

You're pretty good at that, but I don't actually believe your rants any more.

NVIDIA Releases Comparison Benchmarks for DLSS-Accelerated 4K Rendering

https://www.techpowerup.com/248608/...-benchmarks-for-dlss-accelerated-4k-rendering

"The results speak for themselves: with DLSS at 4K resolution, the upcoming NVIDIA RTX 2070 convincingly beats its previous-gen pair by doubling performance. Under these particular conditions, the new king of the hill, the RTX 2080 Ti, convincingly beats the previous gen's halo product in the form of the Titan Xp, with a 41% performance lead - but so does the new RTX 2070, which is being sold at half the asking price of the original Titan Xp."

Looks pretty good, if you believe the numbers.

I posted 13 rtx 2070 reviews on the first post, just so you guys know.

I just started reading this one.
The EVGA RTX 2070 Black Gaming Edition Benchmarked with 38 Games
https://babeltechreviews.com/the-evga-rtx-2070-black-benchmarked/

Thanks for posting up all the review links.

As for the Babeltech review, I haven't trusted Apoppin's stuff for years after his foaming-at-the-mouth anti-AMD tirades. To think he could pull off unbiased reviews after that is stretching the bounds of gullibility. Of the few reviews I've read, his benchmarks generally paint Nvidia in a much better light than most other review sites.

The 2070 is meh, but at the same price (for some cards) and with faster speed (most of the time) it's an OK-ish replacement for the 1080. Yay, I guess. - cheers listlessly -

{ :: sigh :: so much for cards getting faster, cheaper and using less power.... )

If I needed to replace my 980 ti this year I'd probably get the 2070, but I don't so I won't. Maybe the GPU market will be better by xmas 2019.
