NVIDIA stability on VIA chipsets

I'm at the point now where I need to buy a video card to complete my new system.
I have an Asus A7V133 and a 900mhz T Bird
I'd like to get one of the GTS or Pro versions of NVIDIA cards.
I have heard that NVIDIA cards are not stable on VIA chipsets.
Will updated drivers take care of any instability issues?

Any info would be tremendously appreciated!

Also, If anyone has the same board as me, what are you using for video card and whats your experiences.

Thanks Again

I have this board and just bought a geforce2 mx card. The Nvidia card showed now problem (I used the lastest Detonator 3 drivers.) I had an Abit board at first and tried a Voodoo4 4500 on it and the voodoo card caused major problems. I also tried an ATI rage fury pro and that sucker caused the most problems. I also tried the ATI Radeon for a couple days and the Radeon didn't have any problems that the older ATI card had on the board. I would say that Nvidia cards+the latest driver is the most stable setup in my opinion. Although the Radeon worked well to but ATI is known to have driver problems so you might run into some problem later on while gaming. I would Definately stick with the Nvidia!

I am using the same mb as you, plus a geforce2 mx - no stability probs with latest drivers...but I had HUGE stability probs with my SB Live...(still am) Even after following all the little tricks (like putting it in a certain PCI slot, et al)

In my opinion, the VIA chipset found on these mb's is horrible in terms of pickiness...maybe it's the ASUS board though? Who knows...just seems like there are a LOT of stability probs with the latest AMD chips/motherboards/chipsets....maybe I will go back to Intel...

I had the same problem with my SB Live card and what fixed it for me was disabling both serial ports in the back and even my parallel port since my printer and other periphials all use USB. After disabling all three ports it freed up just the right combinaiton of IRQs to give the SB Live the 2 IRQs it takes up to work right. I don't know if this is just with VIA chip set? Sound like it might be with most motherboards but in general I think VIA sucks ass

Doesn't matter.
Once I had an ELSA geforce2 mx, it doesn't work properly on both my KT133 mb and Intel ZX mb.
I can't believe it doesn't work on Intel chipset mb too.

Make sure to buy from a good place with no-cost defective product return policy, so even it doesn't work out properly on your system, you can refund and try another one.

I have an Abit KT7A (VIA KT133A), Nvidia Geforce 2 GTS and an SBLive Value, all working in harmony.

Trick is to look out for IRQ conflicts. Putting the Live in PCI 3 and disabling any unused Parallel/Serial Ports is a good idea.

Running a GF DDR, which is probabaly the most troublesome nVidia card ever, on an Asus A7V(and used to have an SBLive! as well for that matter), worked fine, even with the dreaded 1004 BIOS's

I`ve a MSI K7T Pro board (Via KT133)& Geforce2 MX also with SBlive,no problems at all running games since I had this rig (last September)btw I was using a TNT1 card before with no problems,Abit (Athlon)) boards seem to cause the most problems with Nvidia cards in general but most of the problems can be solved.Anyway I`m a gamer & I`ve 100% stability with games so far.

Nvidia cards are very stable on Via chipsets. A lot of it is driven by brand. Go pick up an Asus board... well known for being the most stable boards out there. The Pro version has slightly faster RAM than the GTS... worth an extra couple of bucks.

Asus P3V4X & Nvidia GTS
