This is business, nothing new.

Of course NVidia will point out the flaws. No doubt ST Micro does the same thing about NVidia products.

i found it funny that nvidia would critize one of their own leading vendors of cards...Guillemot

a hacked up nvidia card was used to produce the kyro2 board....sounds like bitterness to me just purely because Hercules launched a card other than a nvidia equipped one

I agree with Jay, was shocking to see nvidia criticizing one of it's major partners. I Guess Nvidia can afford to step on their partners because what other chips can Hercules use to produce video cards?

Well even though I agree with the fact it's nothing special and it's just business, but some of the reasons nvidia came up on that pdf was misleading.

that's pathetic...

yeah yeah, "that's business"...not for all businesses...
in fact, many aren't as snake-like as u'd think...

oh well, i've hated nvidia for the past several months now..no biggie...
i've made a self-commitment to never buy nvidia products again, unless they give me good reason...

piss on nvidia and creative, together!
(simultaneously in a torrential down poor...)

oh yeah, i emailed them about it earlier as well...wondering if they issued that to OEMs and distributers, internally, or what...hope the snakes reply before i piss on them, again..

its a 1 player game right now. Sure ATI's caused a buzz with the Radeon but based on the current stock prices of both company..it hasnt fazed Nvidia...Nvidia is going full steam ahead and doesnt need to worry about losing its vendors...Nvidia = OEM and retail sales...
sure Kyro II is a good chip but its not going to be able to touch nvidia sales wise in both the OEM and retail business. Ppl can say all they want about the KyroII...the enthusiast market isnt enough to put a dent in nvidias armor. They know this..they wont lose guillemot..and even if they do it will be temporary.

Remember the little engine that could?

Lemme paint a scenario for ya...

There was this huge graphics company about 2-3 years ago. They had revolutionized the graphics and computing industry. Out of left field came a small company that had close to zero market share....

3 years later, that small little company bought out the big former giant after bringing them to their knees.

I think you can fill in the blanks with 3dfx and nvidia where appropriate

ahh but u forget about the infancy of the graphics business back then...it was easy for nvidia to come out of left field and challenge 3dfx..im assuming your saying that PowerVr and Imagination Tech could buy out nvidia one day....its a much different game these days...its not going to happen..based on todays economics...

that pdf looks completely fake. I mean I cant see nVidia wasting time writing something like that up. They also diss SGS about poor design. Obviously nVidia didn't think so since they were one of the only companies licensed the riva 128 architecture. Looks bogus

He must have a lot of time on his hands or they are very worried about Kyro 2

I checked the info in Adobe, it does say by rtaylor, but names can be forged

Its interesting how Nvidia is discouraging their own vendors. I guess Nvidia doesnt want Guillemot to mod their chips....

Digi187, 3dfx were never anywhere near as big as nVidia is today.

Back then, they were big in the 3d gaming market, which was an extremely small market, but compared to ATI or S3, they were nothing.

Its a whole different situation today.

dont trust anyone... how can you be sure if its fake or not? how astonishingly easy it is to spread a propaganda like this on techie forums... hell, i might be wrong, but until whoever wrote the pdf file admits it you have NO evidence to prove it. i dont buy that 'i am an inside guy thus believe what i tell you' crap. i, for one, am not too interested in dirty business tactics either, really... all i know is nvidia makes good cards at the moment and if they cotinue to excel, then they have my $$$. unless otherwise i am going with another product.

Regardless of whether or not its a common business pratice to produce documents like this, its just bad news for us, the comsumers. As long as Geforce 3 is going to be 600 bucks, consumers need as many competitors as possible to keep prices down. I guess Nvidia doesnt like cheap alternatives to their high-priced cards. I hope the document is true and that Nvidia gets some very negative backlash.
