Heh I am now thinking it is 2CPU + GPU = power of 3 working together.

Multithreaded driver release? Is that a huge deal? Maybe with the inception of the Dual Core CPUs.

It will be interesting to see if the driver can extract more performance out of the CPUs.

Creative did, to keep the technology off the market. AFAIK, they have no intention of using any of Aureal's technology.

I say Three Display gaming, which an SLI setup would more than be able to handle, even with new big LCD's out there.

I just unleashed the power of 3 in the bathroom ( 1 + 2 ). And let me tell you that it is so powerfull that nobody can go in there now. If Nvidia can harness this power ATi is going down.

yeah, must be the rest of the line. damn ati better get their butt in gear. this is getting ugly.

Why? ATI isn't in trouble, ok? The market is dominated by low-mid end products, not cards like the 7800.

you're right things are really looking up for them

j/k, i wasn't implying they were ready to close their doors.

i'm just saying they look bad right now. at least they made some headlines with another 800 card, that oughta keep the faithful happy, lol.

No, you still don't get it. To the average public, they don't look any worse or better than nvidia, and the average public is where ATI and Nvidia make their money. Understand? ATI only looks bad to tools like you who whack off to new video cards that cost over $400.

lol. funny, why don't you go post on an average public forum then?

anyway excelsior, you're not enlightening anyone you jackass. get over yourself. we're all aware of the markets and how little a 7800gtx pwning an 850xt pe means to everyone outside of these forums. i was talking strictly from an enthusiasts point of view. this isn't a forum where joe public comes to catch up on light reading.

Maybe they are releasing drives that fix the video overlay problems from the last release.

Theres been an easy fix for that since the day those drivers were released.

Got a link for it?

The only fix I have found is going into the video card option and changing the overlay then restoring it to default. This works great but if I restart my PC I have to do it again. If there is a fix where I don't have to do it every time I restart me PC I am all ears.

Should link you to a reg file.

Doing the exact same thing on my PC fixed the problem permanently, i dont know why your settings dont save for restarts.

Nvidia claimed up to 30% out of SMP/SMT on their latest beta drivers. But no one saw more than 1%.

Oh so plausible... if only....

I really don't see the business sense in releasing an "Ultra" part at this point... 7800 gtx is more than fast enough for anyone right now. Plus the fact that nvidia has stated before that the gtx moniker replaces the ultra name. It's funny when people say "I would get a 7800gtx but I'm waiting for the Ultra." I mean when the 6800 Ultra came out, nobody was saying "I'm waiting for the 6800 Super-ultra." Or maybe they were, I don't remember.

last time i checked, 6800 Ultras werent overclocking 25% on stock cooling either, indicating a ton of headroom for a higher part.

could you tell us? It's not like it's a secret anymore if they answer everyone who e-mails them and asks, so you might as well tell us.

Nooo, they wouldn't tell you what it is right? And if they did, I would have a lot of trouble believing what some minimum wage cust. service rep responded to my email with.

What would really be trippy is if they managed some kind of three-way SLI deal.

The only way they would be able to do that if the third card was using the PCIE X1 slot, since no mobo today has three 16X slots, nor is there any planned for the near future.

What would make more sense is that the 7800GT is released with on shelf availability, along with the announcement of 7800Ultra to arrive with the R520.

Well it is not the fact that there isn't 3 slots. Somone could make that if they so desire. However, the Northbridge simply does not support enough PCI-E lanes. IIRC it supports 25. So you have your x16, and your x8, and your x1.

Time for a new chipset

Could always have multiple GPUs on a single board. But the power draw from something like that would be insane. You would also probably need a chip like 3dfx's Sage to manage the multiple GPUs except for PCI-E.

I have close ties to nVidia (and ATi, and AMD, and Intel, among other companies). The information I get is reliable, and is exactly why they would tell me. The other reason is that they know I won't provide information beforehand, courtesy of NDA, whether it seems trivial or not.
