december

(and that's from the guys who like to beat up on nvidia )

or

hardly evidence of anything ..but it does make me wonder where you get your sales figure data from?

For me, just reading these forums..seems to suggest that the 8800 series is indeed selling like hot cakes

Hopefully i will be 1 more come feburary

There will be a surge shortly after Vista hits retail and thats when it matters most.

I would be surprised if the 8800 series sales were poor. It's a great piece of hardware and it made it to the store shelves in time for the holiday shopping rush.

OMG, that R600 is full length! Wonder how that will fit in most mid-tower cases.

The picture is of the 12" long OEM only card. The retail R600 will be only 9" long, same as the 8800GTX.

It was stated over and over again that the 8800 has not as high expected sales. Nvidia was asked the question from a website forgot which.

How many OEM sales does ATI hope to possibly attract with a foot long card that will be scorching hot with loud cooling? OEM's like small, cool quiet and cheap last I checked...

The R600 situation has become totally hilarious IMO. I cannot remember the last time I saw an IT technology company show off nothing but drawings of their product and I've been around since Commodore PET days. ATI has been playing catchup to nvidia ever since nv4x launched, but I think Jen Hsung Huang's old Hallucinogen quote (which the fanatics loved so much when he first said it) it truer than ever now.

When asked about ATi's ability to snatch the performance crown from NVIDIA after NV30 Jen Hsun Huang responded with, "Tiger Woods doesn't win every day. We don't deny that ATI has a wonderful product and it took the performance lead from us. But if they think they're going to hold onto it, they're smoking something hallucinogenic."

Very disappointing, ATI. According to this, you will be launching your competing flagship and making it available 4-5 months after NVIDIA made here. In this business, that's eternity. I predict a lot of lost, high-end sales.

Lets see a link for this. Steam survey had nearly as many 8800s as x1950s. I think that survey is a pretty good cross section of your avg gamer.

Hasent ATI held the perofrmance crown almost continously since then? They have been late to the party and have lagged behind in features sometimes but they always have the fastest card.

Is it possible to have a thread not degenerate into ATi v nVidia at some point here? Stop being such losers. DEMAND MORE FROM BOTH COMPANIES!

fanboi's smell

Shall I get more?
lol

I bet these guys will come back with inq is the be-all-end-all

The rush to DX10 is not there yet. Mainly because there is no Vista and more importantly because there are NO DX10 games out yet.

I call BS. nVidia, first off, would have never stated that about their product sales, and if they did, it would have been covered by atleast one of the major tech media sources.

The fact is, Geforce 8800GTX continues to dominate the only means of insight we have on sales - Tiger's Top 10, Pricegrabber, and the Steam Survey. The Geforce 8800GTX and 8800GTS continue to remain at the top, and have every since their release.

So aside from the Digitimes report, I'd like to see where you're getting poor 8800 sales.

Read my post

GFX card sales low

Infact this explains that the card will not even sell very well at the current price. I am not saying ATI's option will at the price also. As we all know that Nvidia will be taking a -$ if they lowered the price on the GTX.

I didn't think so. CMON, cite some actual 8800 sales figures.

Well since your are promising actual sales figures - supply them and end all arguments.

The report you linked to pertains to third-quarter sales, from July - September.

Geforce 8800 launched in November...

Got anything else? Surely you wouldn't make a bold claim as you did and not have any evidence to back it up :Q

Well first off, nobody I've seen has predicted sales figures to the exact number. But the following is a great general picture for the overall market trends:

Tiger's Top Sellers: (as of 1/9/07)
1. BFG GeForce 7950 GT / 512MB
2. EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX / 768M
3. EVGA GeForce 7600 GT / 256MB
4. XFX GeForce 7600 GT XXX Edit
5. EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS / 640M
6. XFX GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB P
7. EVGA GeForce 7300 GT / 512MB
8. XFX GeForce 7950 GX2 Dual GP
9. BFG GeForce 6800 GS OC / 256
10. XFX GeForce 7600 GS / 256MB

PriceGrabber / Tom's Hardware Top 5 Video Cards (last updated 1/9/07)[/i]
GeForce 8800 GTX Video Card
Radeon X1600 Pro Video Card
GeForce 8800 GTS Video Card
GeForce 7800 GS OC Video Card
GeForce 8800 GTX Video Card

Unfourtunately these are really the only sources that post sales history. Too bad we don't have a "Next Gen Wars" dedicated to GPU sales.

"Well since your are PROMISING actual sales figures - supply them and end all arguments. "

heh, how do you get that?.. i am asking people who say the sales are low to back up their statements (i don't think that is too much to ask for) ...other than the kind that say .."i forget the website"

But I am looking for actual sales data and coming up empty ...So yes, i would be quite happy to see people, making the poor sales claim, back up their statements. I am interested to know the sales data.

What was my definitive statement (lets go back and see what i said)?

"hardly evidence of anything ..but it does make me wonder where you get your sales figure data from? "

oh right

With all due respect, I don't think you have the credance to be name calling.

You posted: "It was stated over and over again that the 8800 has not as high expected sales. Nvidia was asked the question from a website forgot which."

We're simply asking you to support that statement. Your intial source was irrelevant to 8800 sales because it covered a period before the Geforce 8800 launched. So again, can you please provide your evidence (other than the DigiTimes report), otherwise respectfully acknowledge you made a typo, or whatnot.

Ok ladies, sales of 8800 series wasnt hot and digitimes reported it quite clearly.

Yes they are selling but even the FX series got sold  The competition begins when there is demand i.e., when there are actual AAA DX10 games.

Well, the claim that the 8800 series isn't selling well is news to me and my suppliers. They are selling at least as well as any other nvidia highend card has in the past.
