Hmmm, must be down. Look over at guru, this is where I found the link. There is also a hidden tool nvidia ctrl panel reg program over there as well. But it only references D3d.

I will give an attaboy to NV for the GUI, BUT as to the rest..........

It is so obvious this driver is designed for nothing but raising 3DMark2001 scores. (Hence a refresh rate fix for D3D and changes to reduce the processing necessary to speed the benchie)

This is no less CHEAP than the ATI "Quack" fiasco.

~~~~ my $.01 ~~~~ (They don't deserve 2)
edit: Thx for the linky MEM
Either I am doing something wrong or neither of those refresh rate fixes work. Neither of them worked at all for me.
Do you`ve the refreshLock icon in tasbar,is it enabled,also did you set the refresh rates above 60Hz? Try downloading latest monitor drivers and try again.
Works fine for me. Make sure you have your monitor under device manager and not "Default Monitor". Also, there is no icon in the task bar for this program. It reads your monitors default rates and then makes reg entries.
Depends on which program you download, RefreshForce does not have one but that didn`t work for me,however RefreshLock does.
RefreshForce is designed to modify/create system settings on any system to accommodate your chosen refresh rates and does not need to be running to do so.
RefreshLock is a system tray tool that makes no system modifications, and has nice features like monitor DPMS support
Looks like we need to watch NV's drivers closely now, especially if their new official drivers "adjust" image quality to "improve" performance. That tradeoff should always be up to the end-user, not the board maker.
I guess if you always assume the company currently behind in basic performance is cheating or is likely to be cheating, you're close to the mark.
Eh, my score went up around 100pts! 9957 with the 30.82's and the new ones went to 11007! Not bad.
Personally I could care less about performance increases. I rarely play 3d games, so my Ti 4400 is FAR more than enough for me as is. However, I love the new nView 2.0 features. They make it great for watching videos on my TV and still being able to type normally.
Thanks nVidia!
As a matter of curiosity, why would somebody who rarely plays 3D games by a high end 3D (and expensive) card like the Ti4400?
The Good
  • GLQuake now works at every resolution my system supports. The driver is correctly reporting the available modes to the program.
  • Slightly faster performance in some programs like Quake2 and Quake3 (with anisotropic filtering).
  • Great new control panel design including anisotropic filtering control in Direct3D.
The Bad
  • RivaTuner's refresh fix no longer works (fixed by using Refresh Force instead).
  • All games are dark. It's like the gamma default is lower when switching to 3D games.
  • Serious Sam still has serious Z buffering issues in certain maps in OpenGL mode. I have verified that this is an nVidia specific bug because when I force a 24 bit Z on my Radeon the problem is nowhere to be seen.
No Change
  • From my quick IQ checks in 3D and 2D I couldn't see anything significantly different. That's not to say that nothing's changed, just that nothing hit me as immediately different.
Nooooo!
I use 1152x864 at 85 Hz, it was allright with 29.42 detonators. Now despite downloading monitor driver and using refreshlock, the monitor won't go past 75Hz. Windows (and refresh lock) happily report that the refresh rate is 85Hz, but the monitor (and my eyes) say otherwise.
Back to 29.42 for me...
or...
can anyone suggest anything?
Yes, remove the graphics card from device manager, restart, reinstall drivers (provided you have already set NVRefresh or whatever back to defaults and uninstalled it also). This fixed the 75hz problem for me. To fix refreshrates, LarryJoe atop this page already linked a util that works.
Next problem is, NVIDIA's SpeedTree demo refuses to work, complains of OpenGL missing features... (It used to work w/ WHQL drivers in 16-bit desktop mode, now it just complains and stops). Other OGL apps seem to work fine.
