Hi,
I'm hoping that some nvidia experts might now if I'm missing something. I have a main monitor (Dell U2410) and a second monitor that I fire up on occasion.

I recently bought an nvidia card (GTX 970) after years of ATI cards (I'm revealing my age by using that name).

With the AMD software, I could set up a profile that would disable the second monitor so that no signal went to it. Since there was no signal, my mouse didn't go off the edge of my main monitor.

I can't figure out how to do this in the nvidia software. When my 2nd monitor is off, my mouse will disappear off the screen as if the monitor were on. Does anyone know if I can shut off the signal to the second monitor?

Thanks.

Windows screen resolution then choose to only show the desktop on monitor 1 (or 2, whichever is the monitor).

You should also be able to achieve the same goal by hitting the windows key + p. A menu will pop up and you can toggle between single monitor and extended monitors.

Thanks for the tips, guys. For some reason, even though my U2410 is set to be my main display, if I try the Win + P method, it defaults to my small monitor as the "Computer Only" monitor.

When I tried the Windows Screen Resolution, it also defaults to my smaller monitor. I don't know why it wants to change to that one. Originally, I had a 19" TV as my second monitor. I had to connect it via HDMI. I thought that Windows prioritized HDMI and thus changed my U2410 to "Monitor 2" even though it was there first.

If nvidia allowed profiles like AMD did, I wouldn't be having this problem.

If you open up the Nvidia Control Panel, under "Select a Task" (left panel), under "Display" --> "Set up multiple displays" go to line item 2: "Drag the icons to match your display configuration." If you right click over a display, a drop down menu appears that allows you to select which display is primary. Select the monitor you want as primary, then "Apply". Now try Win+P and see if that works.

If all else fails, select "Duplicate" and turn off the monitor you don't want to use.

Hi Riversend and Blastingcap,
Thanks for your help. My problem is that my U2410 IS recognized as my primary display. I was just complaining that my secondary monitor is identified as Display #1.

When I try to Duplicate, it drops my U2410 from 1920x1200 to the 1600x900 resolution of my secondary monitor.

I was able to shut the signal off to the secondary monitor by selecting "Show Desktop Only on 2". Even then, it changes my resolution down to 16x9 and I had to manually bump it back up to 19x12.

I got it to work, but it is very clunky.
