I have to build a new pc and wait for intel sandy bridge processors.so otherwise my other specs is corsair 4gb ddr3,2tb hard disk and I have sony lcd tv of 32 inch which I gonna be use as a monitor.so my budget for graphic card is 200$ or 12000 rupees.

I'm also about to purchase a new graphics card and I was judging between those two cards myself. I love AMD because of their open source driver direction in the Linux world but honestly, in this case the gtx 460 performs better and for a substantially lower price.

This is the one I'm thinking of getting currently, and it's $169.99 and goes to $144.99 AMR.

A GTX 460 768 MB does not perform better than a 6850.


hotboyz012345: If your video editing program can use cuda, get the 460, if not, get the cheaper card between the 6850 and 460 1 GB.

HD 6850.

Get the Asus Version if you can, they Can O/C to near 6870 Levels with 40% better cooling then reference 6850's.

But I know you don't want to O/C...


To be honest, just pick one. They are both going to be good

Then don't buy the graphics card till last, save your self some money.
You will have more choices in January when the 2600k releases.

When you factor in AMD's image optimization that tilted review results, the 6850 doesn't appear as good as it should in regards to image quality and performance which you mention is a key factor. The GTX 460 is the better solution, especially the factory overclocked ones. The only draw back is they take more power, but overall it isn't too bad.

My bad, I was a little tired and confused the 768mb with the 1GB cards.

It is usually better if you buy all the components together rather than piecemeal when it comes to computer components. This is becaue nearly all computer components depreciate over time, and rather quickly too. So waiting will net you better components at the same price, or the same component at a cheaper price. The major exception is RAM, which fluctuates more like stock prices than just a steady depreciation.
