I want the job of the guy who gets to sit on Forums all day and mark the potential candidates.

I do that already and I don't get paid a dime.

Heh- there's even a member here who's on every board on the internet all day long promoting ATI with his name on this forum, plus a few others.

Get used to it guys. The only way to stop nvidia from using AEG is to stop buying nvidia products, nothing else will work. I don't see that happening anytime soon, so get used to the idea that some of the people that are helping you make a good choice, are doing it for personal profit. They don't care if the hardware is right for you, they don't care if it's the best value, they care about getting more free stuff.
My only real issue with this is that it taints everyone, the trust we used to have in each other is lost because nvidia found a way to profit by betraying our trust. I think it stinks, and I dislike nvidia because of it.

We know for SURE that nVidia does . . . no one has "caught" ATi.

"fact of life?" it is UNethical and hopefully soon-to-be illegal.

not "every" company does it .. . some companys actually have morals

and you still don't know what exactly nv does. anyway, i'm not getting into this mess again.

you'd be doing more good exposing the shills on the investing message boards where suckers lose 10k's rather than get a $400 video card that can't do hdr+aa.

How do you know though? Do you have any proof of this? All I see here are the usual fanboys from both sides, here's a quick list off the top of my head:

ATi fans:

1. Ackmed
2. Munkey
3. Morph
4. n7
5. you
6. nib95

nVidia fans:

1. Rollo
2. Ronin
3. Wreckage
4. Keys
5. BeggerKing
6. Kalessian

I'm a fan of both companies but I do prefer ATi slightly for my own reasons. In fact there is nothing wrong with being a fan of either companies products as long as you have a valid reason. Anyway, from the above list of names, I don't think anyone is a paid AEG or any other viral marketing member.

that's a really SHORT list.

anyway, look at AEG's web site . . . they brag that there isn't a forum to small or too remote that they don't infect.

and the most obvious ones - the true fanboys - don't NEED to be paid . . . think "respected" and not necessarily 'video'.

The rabid nVidiots are not good PR for nVidia just at the fanATIcs are bad for ATi. . . . they want someone that actually does appear 'fair and balanced' not a poor caricature of it that can easily be shot down.

ROFL wtf?

When did i become an ATi fanboi ????

If you do a quick search, you'll see me recommending nVidia cards alot of times, even on Rage3D...

The only reason i've had more ATi cards than nVIdia's is that they have a staff purchase program thru my werk, & nVidia doesn't...

Right and I can't think of a single person that falls into the "fair and balanced" category here in the video forums. I'm not concerned with what AEG does on the AMD/Intel/Motherboard forums. Pete might be the closest to neutral there is here in the video forums and he already mentioned previously that he was contacted by AEG before and turned them down.

i ain't gonna name names . . .

and this isn't a witch hunt

[i hope]

and one thing . . . Pete comes very close to 'fair and balanced' . . . he would be "perfect" for this viral marketing.

No, no, no.. when you prefer an ati card for any reason over an nv card, that makes you a ati fanboy. Also when the nv trolls are having a field day and you spoil it by arguing, that also makes you an ati fanboy.

I would love to see the NDA "mission statement" on this along with the requirements that go along with the "free hardware". Binding is binding and anything NDA is binding, i.e., a contractual like agreement.

Alot of you don't see any harm in this. You are blind and don't see the real affects it can have and has had on people who contribute to a Forum as a "respected" or "valued judgment" member. They (AEG and the like) are using this person(s) position to sway others ideas to buy a specific manufactures product, and I guess as we have seen, spread FUD.

That is what they (AEG and the lot) were hired to accomplish by the manufacture, but at a distance so that the manufacture could keep clean of any real PR dissasters should they occur. Manufactures have their own in house PR machines, they are not being used directly for this reason.

Welcome to the Corporate world baby!!

LOL hope you guys aren't angry about my little list. Like I said it's just something off the top of my head from what I observed. I probably fall more into the ATi fan list as well.

Well, I'm not really directing it at you. But lets just say I have reasons for prefering ati, and it's not because I just like red better than green. (Also ati does not give me free stuff)

this is what Pete said in another forum-
I'm not sure why I'm reluctant to post the PMs here--heck, I'm even hesitant to say when I was PMed!--but there's nothing juicy in them beyond what I imagine is the usual focus group enticement: they give you something in exchange for some of your thoughts. I suppose a video card is a little more than a movie screening, and so they probably expect more detailed or simply periodic feedback in return, but that's a far cry from shilling for someone.
this is what we know.
