Question NVME Driver for Windows 10

So I'm currently using a Crucial CT500MX500SSD4 M.2 2280 SSD for my boot drive for WIndows 10 and recently installed a Samsung 970 EVO 1TB in my other M.2 slot on my Asus Z390E ROG STRIX mobo. When I ran Samsung Magician, it says "Microsoft" for NVME driver. Am I supposed to install Samsung's NVME driver or use the Windows 10 driver?

Unless there is a proprietary Samsung driver for the device than the Microsoft driver should work fine.

Does Magician state if any updates are available for the drive?

The Samsung NVMe driver performs a bit better then the MS provided one. It's really a question of temperament as to whether to actually install it. Can't say I've had issues with either.

I've kept the Microsoft driver, because I too have 2 NVME drives, but I'm not sure if that's the best choice. What did you mean by a question of temperament?

Samsung Magician is just detecting certain information for whichever drive is selected (Interface, NVME driver, Trim Status, Rapid Mode). There's no update link there, you would manually have to download the Samsung NVME driver from website. I left Microsoft's driver on there because I'm also using a Crucial M.2 in the other slot and don't know how it would handle that for both. I ran CrystalDiskMark and everything seems to be working as it should. Maybe I'll just leave it alone

What did you mean by a question of temperament?

Some just want the absolute best performance no matter what, and others don't like tinkering with What Works(tm).

Both are fine IMHO.
