Hi. I am trying to load cameras on software called anycam. 4 of the cameras are in an nvr. How would I go about adding these so we can see them online

Ok, I just googled what is an nvr, which I get the idea ect. Just looked up anycam software too.

I use Ubiquity cams DMP with a 2TB red drive in it.

Anyway, are the cameras on a different subnet from your mobile devices? Generally both will need to be on the same network. If you have the capability of creating a second network such as a VLAN for just the nvr and your cameras that would be recommended, you may have to point the app to that subnet though.

Maybe others will chime in that are more knowledgeable than myself on these things. @ch33zw1z maybe able to help with VLANS, @JackMDS pobably even more if my memory serves me well for this particular forum. There are others also.

Forgot to quote you incase of notifications.

Also maybe @mxnerd could help on this if you are actually real. Only questioning join date and lack of additional info.

Sounds like I need someone to log in and take a look.. it's beyond my knowledge. Thank you for the suggestions!

All the cameras are on the same network. 192. And 255 the cameras not connected directly to the nvr all connect to anycam fine. Its the cameras directly connected to the nvr will not connect to anycam

How are they "directly connected to the NVR" ? How do you know the IP's of the cameras?

Provide the make and model of all the cameras, the NVR, and other network gear you have running.

They are plugged directly into the nvr. I assigned static ips to the cameras and can see those ips and cameras on the nvr.

Ok, you didn't provide any hardware details for any devices.

How does the NVR tie into your network?

The few NVR that I've dealt with acted as its own PoE router/switch for any devices connected to it. You had to connect to the NVR to view the different video feeds. I'm going to assume you need to connect to the NVR to view the video feed. Most NVR will come with some sort of web interface, or even an app, to allow you to connect to it remotely to view video feeds.

If you want to use Anycam, you'd most likely need to remove those cameras from the NVR and connect them directly to your local network.

And I'll echo what @DaaQ said about isolating the webcams in its own VLAN, and most IoT devices for that matter. We've had multiple cases where our business clients added IP cameras and the damn installers plugged them into the separate physical local network that was supposed to be for our equipment only, and it caused havok with the operation of our equipment.

Basically this. Look at this link:

I have an NVR also with 9 cameras attached to it. The NVR has its own NIC and DHCP enabled and is providing ip addresses to the cameras but using different subnet. I have other cameras connected directly to my router via wifi and I can access them directly from any camera app, but not the cameras connected to the NVR. The cameras connected to the NVR can be viewed from an app linked to the NVR cloud account.

I wanted to create my own thread but saw this one and decided to put my question here. It is similar to the OP question. I don't think having the NVR connected to the cloud and using its own mobile app to view the feeds is the safest option. I'm sure it is better to disable the NVR cloud and use another way to access the feeds. I can connect to my home LAN remotely via a VPN connection (My router supports it), and then access the NVR web interface and view the feeds. That's more secure than the NVR traditional method. But it is less practical and less convenient. It is much easier to view the feeds using the mobile app specially with a mobile phone. If you are away from home, and you decided to connect to your home LAN using your phone, it will be hard to navigate the web interface with a mobile browser. I want to disable the cloud option in the NVR, and I'm wandering if there is a way to add the cameras to an app while they are on a different subnet? I think you will have to use port forwarding in one way or another which will consequently lower your security so that's not the best way. I don't know, it is something to discuss. This is beyond my knowledge in networking so all help is appreciated. Thanks.
