SuSE probably doesn't support nVidia's software raid stuff. Linux has some decent software raid of its own and good support for hardware raid.

would i need the floppy with drivers on Win64, for either the Storage driver or the RAID driver?

having setup a RAID1 array in the BIOS and installed XP64, could i then use the same array to install SUSE on some unallocated disk space?

I just finished doing this myself. Linux sees the disks as individual drives, so you can create a software RAID1 with no problem. Installing the boot loader is pretty tricky. What I did was use a separate /boot partition and manually clone that partition with dd before booting it. There's good info here. It's written for Gentoo, but I've gotten it to work with Debian too. Don't expect it to be seamless or to work straight from the GUI installer.

i'd rather not use the windows software RAID, and i don't have a hardware RAID card, so i have a problem.

cheers, but it sounds a little complicated for me.
