It's a war zone, don't come. We wear bullet proof vests and conceal carry to go everywhere. The smart people use body armor.

Using the subway and mass transit like normal. Mostly date in the city, and all the women I date are just using the subway like they usually do. Whether we are meeting at a museum or a bar, which is just about every week. This week meeting someone in Midtown East and someone on the UWS who is coming down from Hudson Heights. Nobody really gives a shit. Just be generally street smart as one always has to be in a big city and it's routine, as it has been for a while. Going on the subway all you see are normal people - from the old to the young just going about their days. Have not noticed any difference since the city bounced back from Covid. It's amazing what we actually experience in the city vs what right wing shitheads think.

The media hypes up crime, so politicians gotta look tough.

But that's tough to imagine for willfully ignorant right wing fucks. Please stay in your shitty backwards bubble forever.

On the NYC forums and all the people I know in this area, most everybody thinks this is kind of funny, what Hochul is doing. We all just go out here like normal. The streets and subways of NYC are quite normal, pretty much pre-Covid like in crowds. Places are full of tourists and locals just going about their business.

I am not sure how the national guard on the subways is going to help with the problem of shopping cart extortion rings run by migrants at Home Depot. Indus will still be disappointed and threatened.

This is all kind of funny because Fox News did a whole live theatre piece where the Guardian Angels accosted a migrant criminal in Times Square live on TV and it was all bullshit. Within the last few weeks. This is the media we deal with.

I ride it almost every day and have experienced no problems. My wife and I were trading this story this morning laughing about how dumb it is.

What this seems to really be about is coddling the MTA union, another union that should be broken.

There was an incident at one station way uptown where conductors were being harassed, and I think eventually one got punched the other day. Then a bunch of conductors didn't go on shift. This is in response to that.

Why are you making up positions for others to hold? Nobody says crime doesn’t exist, just that it’s not a particularly big problem. If you want to see a city with a crime problem look at Republican run Oklahoma City. Their murder rate is double that of NYC. If NYC had red state crime rates the country would lose its mind.

Murders in 2023 were lower than in 2012 and not far off the pre-pandemic average. I don’t recall anyone talking about a murder problem in 2012. New York City is among the safest cities in the country.
