I just called up a shooting range to find out about joining some sort of sports shooting circle. Turns out that in NYC u need a permit just to touch a hand gun, never mind owning one. This means i can't hold a handgun untill i'm 21 and i cant hold a rifle till im 18. This is BS! It's not like i'm looking to own a handgun i was looking to do some sports shooting. I domt see the prob with a 16yo doing that, i'm sure there are plenty of junior shooting teams around. BUT nooooo not in NYC!

ok, first off, i think the rules in NYC are well deserved, far too many people in the city carry weapons, and if your 16 years old, you don't need to be carrying a gun anyway, there is no need for a 16 year old kid to be heading downtown to go shooting every other day, sorry, taht's just my 2 cents

I dont really mind a good screening process before getting a gun or even limiting cary permits but, this is just crazy!

bonk: Who said anything about carying weapons. Hell, i dont think 16 yo's should be allowed to carry or own weapones either. Im talking about shooting as a sport. Last time I checked, it was an Olympic sport and if u want to be half way good at something u can't begin practicing it at the age of 21.

Here in OR I'm pretty sure you can license a handgun at 18, you just can't get a concealed carry permit until you're 21.

I want a 9mm Glock, & a concealed carry permit when I'm old enough...

Ummmmmmmmmmm. Have you looked on Long Island or Rockland county? I know for a fact you can shoot there. I used to go to the range by the Nassau coliseum and I've taken my 11 year old son to the range in Pearl River.

The only ranges I know about in NYC is for cops on the west side and one downtown in a gun shop.

The handgun restrictions in NYC are damn strict. You gotta either be a cop or be damn lucky to get a license in the city. I hate this liberal hellhole I'm in, first they do pisspoor jobs of raising children, who end up getting illegal guns and becoming gangsters, then they protest any legislation that would let anyone legally get a gun, then they elect Hillary to be their senator.

I like this city, I just hate all the idiots in it.
