This isn’t the work of the so-called deep state. It’s the work of the steady state.

Given the instability many witnessed, there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment, which would start a complex process for removing the president. But no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis. So we will do what we can to steer the administration in the right direction until — one way or another — it’s over.

I wrote that.
It's me

AMA

What basically everybody in that place is going to say when this thing somehow comes to an end.

Also admitting to conspiracy in what is effectively a partial soft coup of the republic is...something else.

That's why we gotta get him out in four years or less. The longer it goes on, the fewer good people will be hanging around.

I once got a partial soft coup at massage parlour. Wasn't sure how much to tip.
I do recommend if you get the chance

Funny thing is, it's not gonna be just the people working for this admin. I bet when Trump is out you'll have trouble finding Republicans that admit they supported him.

Edit: Now as for the op-ed, whoever wrote that can go fuck a landmine tbh. If things are that bad your duty is to record and leak everything so you can get this clown out of the White House. Spare us the "I am part of the resistance" bullshit.

They need to invoke the 25th. Making him more paranoid is going to do us no good. Isolating (relatively) his instability from the public and pandering to him in order to keep consolidation of his base have led us to dangerous territory. Impeachment and criminal prosecution are tools too slow to rely on. Why shy away from a constitutional crisis? This is a trolley problem. Man up and switch tracks. It has to be crystal clear by now that Trump will never do so on his own.

4 years?
4 years makes the assumption that he gets re-elected in 2020.
You using new math or old math?

I think "good people" is going to far. Maybe "not objectively monstrous but still probably fundamentally bad people who realize there will be life after Trump to endure"

When Trump is out...you are going to get a lots of Trump wannabes trying to fill the void.
Every local election in the "tard districts" is going to get a wannabe Trump.

This is just insane. We actually have senior officials at the White House actively thwarting the desires of the President because he's so dramatically unqualified in every sense of the word. That's actually a horrifying reflection of this county. Added to this, the fact that anyone would be reassured because "adults are in the room" is mind boggling. Wow.

I hate you - you are stopping The Donald from MAGAing

Not sure if that's a question but I will try to respond.
Whenever Trump tries to MAGA, he likes to first put on a his golf attire then he does his regular "Wheres Melania" schitck.
He then runs to his room alone for about an hour.
Unfortunately after years of abusing viagara nothing works anymore so by the end of the hours he is in one of his "moods".

Melania is actually pretty nice nowadays. She won't talk when Trump is around but she is a pretty funny lady. Still a bitch to most people but to the "crew" she is friendly because she knows we keep her secrets.

Cue Trump and his cheerleaders lying that it's fake, and so on.

The irony to me is that this official says "oh yeah, Trump's a blithering idiot" but doesn't stop to question the wisdom of Trump's major policies, as if someone that grossly incompetent could implement a few wise strategies through dumb luck.

And by writing this, there does seem to be a tacit acknowledgment that the next President will be a Democrat, and quite possibly in 2020. You don't throw Trump under the bus like that if you're a typical "party before country" Republican who wants Trump to remain a useful idiot until 2024.

Trump has a couple of enablers.
Pence is doing his best to "guide" Trump but Pence has got a game plan. He's not part of the official resistance though.
Pence is fucking psycho.

You are mistaken.
Trump doesn't have major policies.

I have never seen anything like this before. Never heard of it. And there’s no way the NYT published this without knowing exactly who it was from. This wasn’t some anonymous email as I’m sure the right will claim.

This just echoes everything else. Says exactly what Woodward’s book says.

Trump is not the disease. He is a symptom. The disease is Conservatism and the Republican party is the vector of that disease.

Conservatism and Republicans are not a disease. They are viruses
There is a difference

Silly Gop'ers. People didn't get crazy enough to elect Trump by listening to anybody other than them.

Like this-

Don’t get me wrong. There are bright spots that the near-ceaseless negative coverage of the administration fails to capture: effective deregulation, historic tax reform, a more robust military and more.

Just wait for it to trickle down...

How do you know that this individual isn't one of the sources, if not the primary source, of the mountain of damaging leaks which have emanated from this White House? He may in fact be a principle source for both the Woodward and Wolff books for all we know.

I don't agree with the bolded portion because the vast majority of Trump's policies are just longstanding GOP policies. It doesn't take brains or competence to formulate what is mostly a set of party line policies, or slight variations of such. Given that this is the case, I can understand why a conservative might say he agrees with most of Trump's policies, but thinks he's an immoral idiot who is dangerous to the country.
