For the past 2 years I've had the following on my PC.
P3 600e running @ 840mhz voltage @ 1.70
Asus P3V4X
Voodoo 5 5500 AGP
Sound Blaster Live
PlexWriter CD-R 8/4/32
256megs 133mhz
I'm using the Golden Orbital as my CPU fan.

I don't know what to upgrade on, my computer doesn't feel stable as it did in the beginning, and I would like to know if I should upgrade the CPU. I also would like to O/C my current CPU to a faster speed, but it seems that it won't let me go any higher than I already have it on.

Well, if you've been running that chip at that speed for 2 years, it could be wearing out. It could also be that running at 140MHz FSB is taking its toll on your PCI components, hard drives, that kind of stuff. You could definitely upgrade that CPU easily if you want, say to a 933MHz, and then not have to run out of spec... Unless you wanted to overclock that too I don't think you'll get that 600 much farther than that without some serious coolage, but it's already a huge overclock.

It may also be your Windows installation. If you have not reinstalled Windows since then, it would be a good idea to do so.

You can raise your voltage to 1.8 perfectly safely, and many people run at 1.85 or 1.9
Raising the voltage will give you a lot more overclocking headroom.

I don't know how much you would really benefit from a cpu upgrade at this time. You could grab a 700e and run rather easily at 933. I'm just not sure the performance would be that much better, although you might be more stable. Paulip may have something with the Windows installation too..

>I second with paulip88. Reinstall windows or try System Mechanic first to clean things up. Your at 840mhz don't think your going to see a big enough performance gain if you upgrade from 840mhz...

>I would consider a Geforce 2 DDR at this time then upgrading your cpu.
