Not tolerating bigots is not being a bigot, it's not tolerating ignorance.

Sure, I agree with you in general, I'd just like to know why or how does having a different opinion of homsexality equal "ignorance", or even "bigotry". unless you're making the claim that any differing opinion is ignorance.

I've done enough consulting work for non-profit businesses that I am against 99% of them. Seeing director's that work 15 hours a week making $100,000+ a year seems like abuse of the system - and this happens more frequently than not.

Don't worry, religion still has a major influence over policy at all government levels in this country. The power shift will continue at it's current snail's pace towards the center. The pendulum has for too long been tilted to the right and must be realigned.

That's too bad.

This power shift doesn't equate to reform at all. We still have groups infliuencing policy for everyone.

If we're not under the religious yoke, we're under the more liberal yoke. Which pile of dog crap tastes better? Know what I'm sayin'?

Honestly, this is what I generally think -- but I am not accusing all pro-SSM people of feeling that people like us are bigots.

I will be fair - there have been a lot of hate crimes committed against homosexual persons in this country and that's a sad indictment on our "free" society. That's made it easy to paint the broad brush even over those well-meaning folks like myself that neither fear no see homosexual individuals as a threat to myself or civilization.

The stupid part about this is the "all or nothing" stance they seem to take (in other words, if you're not completely for me, you're completely against me).

You *can* oppose it, but the political arena is not the proper place for it because you're attempting to legislate and legalize discrimination. Now, my personal views haven't changed,... but they're "personal" and shouldn't be put into law. Some people personally feel gays should be killed, but that should NOT go into law.

The religious right have abused their freedom. If they were smart, they'd just talk to people about it outside the political arena and give them the Bible's view of it if they feel so compelled. Then people can either accept it or reject it without feeling forced. Win win for them and the Gay Community.

Under the "liberal" yoke at least allows for more than one religions voice or opinion. And that pesky 1st Amendment keeps any religion from becoming too politically entrenched in our government; at least on the federal level. It's too bad it doesn't apply to state and local governments.
