Some Christians have accused obama of religious bigotry
A Christian pastor reportedly pressured to back out of delivering the benediction at President Obama’s inauguration.

Giglio, the pastor of Passion City Church in Georgia, said yesterday he would no longer deliver the prayer after gay rights activists became enraged over a sermon he delivered in the 1990s calling homosexuality a sin — a sermon they considered to be anti-gay.
The White House quickly distanced itself from the evangelical leader – and said his participation would not have reflected their desire to have a diverse inaugural.

“It is the ultimate hypocrisy for the Obama administration to pretend it supports diversity and yet denounces anyone who dares to disagree with its radical homosexual agenda,”

Shouldn't obama have known about this? If he was going to have a Christian pastor then wouldn't he have them checked out? It would have made sense for obama to check him out since obama would want him to have similar views with him

Also I believe gay marriage should be legal but the pastor still has the right to have his beliefs and he should not be kicked out over this. Not everyone has the same views and unless he was extreme and said that they should be killed then he should be allowed to be at the inauguration.

I believe this is a case where a lobby has far too much power and a minority of people are imposing their views upon the majority.

Do you think that the Christian pastor should be allowed to speak at the inauguration or should he be kicked out?

He withdrew himself... So... Yawn.

I am honored to be invited by the President to give the benediction at the upcoming inaugural on January 21. Though the President and I do not agree on every issue, we have fashioned a friendship around common goals and ideals, most notably, ending slavery in all its forms.

Due to a message of mine that has surfaced from 15-20 years ago, it is likely that my participation, and the prayer I would offer, will be dwarfed by those seeking to make their agenda the focal point of the inauguration. Clearly, speaking on this issue has not been in the range of my priorities in the past fifteen years. Instead, my aim has been to call people to ultimate significance as we make much of Jesus Christ.

oh, and this is the thrust of their complaint:
“It is the ultimate hypocrisy for the Obama administration to pretend it supports diversity and yet denounces anyone who dares to disagree with its radical homosexual agenda,”

Pastor is reportedly pressured to back out...Proof he was pressured to back out?

Giglio, the pastor of Passion City Church in Georgia, said yesterday he would no longer deliver the prayer after gay rights activists became enraged over a sermon he delivered in the 1990s calling homosexuality a sin — a sermon they considered to be anti-gay.

“It is the ultimate hypocrisy for the Obama administration to pretend it supports diversity and yet denounces anyone who dares to disagree with its radical homosexual agenda,”

"...radical homosexual agenda?" Whether the admin's position is radical or not is a matter of opinion. But I'm sure putting that spin on it generates more readership, ad revenue, etc.

Shouldn't obama have known about this? If he was going to have a Christian pastor then wouldn't he have them checked out? It would have made sense for obama to check him out since obama would want him to have similar views with him

No, Obama wouldn't have checked out the pastor, one of his staff would have.

Also I believe gay marriage should be legal but the pastor still has the right to have his beliefs and he should not be kicked out over this. Not everyone has the same views and unless he was extreme and said that they should be killed then he should be allowed to be at the inauguration.

The admin is allowed to invite whoever they wish to speak and not wanting Pastor Giglio to speak because of his views does not make the admin intolerant.

I believe this is a case where a lobby has far too much power and a minority of people are imposing their views upon the majority.

A lobby? The LGBTQ community and their supporters are not a lobby; they are citizens of this country and their view has been in the majority for a few years now according to polls; and growing every year.

Do you think that the Christian pastor should be allowed to speak at the inauguration or should he be kicked out?

No. If the admin doesn't want him to speak at the inaugarul then he should step out of the way.

Of course, he and his followers/supporters will be able to whore a lot more media attention and perhaps more donations to his church if they keep up the "Waaaaah, we were kicked out of the inauguration!!!" meme.

Here's a suggestion, have all politicians be guilty of ethics violations that can be punishable up to and including impeachment if they pander to any religion.

Then they can all bitch and moan about how they are being mistreated equally and the rest of us won't have to give two shits about their feelings of being ignored while another group is given some form of platform because none of them will be getting one.

Non-issue, IMO.

I think there is some truth to this line, though, judging off the overall feel of the posters here:

What’s becoming ever so clear to those who thought homosexual activists could be appeased is that their ultimate goal is to sanitize the public space of anyone who holds to a biblical view of morality,”

And what other non-profit organizations pay taxes?

OK, let's start here:
Are you going to call Rick Warren a not-for-profit industry?

I'm gonna give you a brief opportunity to back off of that statement of yours.

But please...it will be hilarious if you don't.

Now, go!

Apparently his ass did not get owned enough in his stupid rant about "Happy Holidays". Now he starts here. What a pathetic way to get attention by posting obvious troll posts over and over. Go on a dating site or something.

A person is not a not-for-profit industry.

Do you really want to empower the government with broad power to decide which non-profits are "worthy".

Do you not see how that could easily backfire?

EDIT: And do you not see how your wanting to take away non-profit status from Churches makes you a religious bigot?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Rights_Campaign

As an example. HRC is a non-profit organization that has nothing to do with "soup kitchens". Should we revoke their non-profit status too?

Religious bigotry not found. No religious person was kicked out or asked specifically to leave. Heck, as a Christian myself that sees the value in the separation of church and state, it is out of mere courtesy/tradition that religious elements are included/referenced at all at these inaugurations.

Isn't that the way of things these days? Total open-mindedness......UNTIL you disagree with their view!
