Well, nobody else has posted about this and I wasn't going to either, because i don't think it's that big of a deal. But some of the other comments from Obama's adviser Samantha Power caught my attention:

"We f***** up in Ohio," she admitted. "In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio's the only place they can win.

"She is a monster, too ? that is off the record ? she is stooping to anything," Ms Power said, hastily trying to withdraw her remark.

Ms Power said of the Clinton campaign: "Here, it looks like desperation. I hope it looks like desperation there, too.

"You just look at her and think, 'Ergh'. But if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective. The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive."

Ohioans are obsessed? What does that mean?

Hillary knows Ohio is the only place she can win? How about Rhode Island, Texas, California, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, etc etc?

You just look at her and think, 'Ergh'? Gee, that sounds like a dig at her physical looks. You're not so hot yourself, biatch.

And calling her a monster, well, that's just immature. Reminds me of some of the Obama supporters around here.

If this is the type of person Obama chooses for his inner circle, I have to wonder about his judgement.

Old news. Advisor has already resigned and apologized for that.

the more troubling part was the interview Power gave to a British interviewer regarding Obama's plans for troop withdrawal:

?He will, of course, not rely on some plan that he?s crafted as a presidential candidate or a U.S. Senator.?

link

This is on the heel of the Nafta incident with the Canadian government where Obama tells the people in Ohio one thing and his senior economic adviser says that is just political posturing.

Why is Obama telling one thing to the American people and his campaign telling foreign governments and press another thing? Is Obama going to do what he says he will do or what his campaign tells foreign media and government?

Some of us around here can see Oblahma for what he really is, just like what we saw in GWB before he was elected twice.

Well damn him for sounding reasonable and gasp presidential.

Why should he rely on a plan if the underlying facts change? It sound so stupid and, well republican. No one can say for sure how many troops will be in Iraq next January. No one can say for sure what the situation on the ground will be so why should he live and die by a timetable that could be antiquated by the time he enters office.

Does it really matter if it takes 17 months because Bush didn't draw down as many troops as he planned, or if it takes 13 months because he drew down more?

And btw the Nafta things was complete and utter b.s. and has been refuted by everyone including the original news agency.

The thing is, when you bring down obama, you don't raise up hillary. You merely bring him down, so the end result is that instead of being christ vs satan, you have a layman vs satan. Do you understand? He is still the best, he's just not perfect. Perhaps not even close. We must all bemoan the current state of affairs.

The thing is, he is only being brought down in your mind. In reality, he was never anything more than just another politician. Exposing the truth just shows that his only strentgth was in convincing people like you that he was somehow above the rest.

You went from confessing mole hill to orogenesis and onto speculating about judgment. You display none so I'm not confident in any answer you'll give.

The adviser was right, whether politically correct or not.

In fact, I would have used stronger terms.

This is acceptable and I got attacked for saying Obama's real middle name??

Every day I get more reinforcement of my beliefe that the hope, change, unity stuff was just total bullshit.

I don't buy into nihilism and I don't buy into the idea that all politicians are equal.

That up for debate, because some people don't consider hobgoblins to be monsters. I'm on the fence on it, personally.

You say you don't buy into nihilism but Political Nihilism is exactly what Obama advocates. Political Nihilism is associated with the belief that the destruction of all existing political, social, and religious order is a prerequisite for any future improvement.

Ethical nihilism or moral nihilism rejects the possibility of absolute moral or ethical values.

I don't buy into all politicians being equal either. In fact, I often argue that Obama is worse than Clinton. I just never bought into his greatness or moral and ethical perfection that have been preached so strongly.

Back on topic, does anyone else see this "scandal" as essentially a yawner? Demonizing the other kind is the kind of talk goes on all the time in groups/teams. And as far as her comments on Iraq go, it was likttle more than a very poorer worded statement that Obama's plans weren't cast in stone, that he would take the current circumstances into consideration. That is pretty much a minimum level of competent analysis that I would expect from a commander in chief.

Power on Obama's Iraq plan: "best case scenario"

March 07, 2008

Power downplayed Obama's commitment to quick withdrawal from Iraq on Hard Talk, a program that often exceeds any of the U.S. talk shows in the rigor of its grillings. She was challenged on Obama's Iraq plan, as it appears on his website, which says that Obama "will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months."

"What he?s actually said, after meting with the generals and meeting with intelligence professionals, is that you ? at best case scenario ? will be able to withdraw one to two combat brigades each month. That?s what they?re telling him. He will revisit it when he becomes president," Power says.

The host, Stephen Sackur, challenged her:"So what the American public thinks is a commitment to get combat forces out in 16 months isn't a commitment isn't it?"

"You can?t make a commitment in March 2008 about what circumstances will be like in January of 2009," she said. "He will, of course, not rely on some plan that he?s crafted as a presidential candidate or a U.S. Senator. He will rely upon a plan ? an operational plan ? that he pulls together in consultation with people who are on the ground to whom he doesn?t have daily access now, as a result of not being the president. So to think ? it would be the height of ideology to sort of say, 'Well, I said it, therefore I?m going to impose it on whatever reality greets me.'"

"It?s a best-case scenario," she said again.

Bill and Hillary were lying in bed when Bill says,
'I am going to make you the happiest woman in the world.'

Hillary replies, 'I'll miss you...'

With all this negative campaigning and dirty tricks, the only thing Hillary and her camp are going to accomplish is to hand the Presidency over to McCain and the Republicans this November. So yeah, she is a monster. This is ridiculous. And for what? To pass up a real liberal Democrat in order to re-elect the biggest DINO of a President the US has ever seen.

IDK, seems awfully unfair to monsters IMO.

Fern

srsly, how dare that monster actually try.

what a bitch, how can she not see that because 1% of voters prefer Obama before the primaries are even over and months before the convention, she needs to roll over like the dog she is and let super delegates hand it over to Obama.

You're a admitted Republican, already vocal for McCain on these forums, so obviously you're just backing Clinton to instigate a split in the Democratic party this year.

So why do you think your opinion matters here?
First, Romney rolled over for your pal McCain.
Second, the supers can only hand it over to Clinton. Obama already has a lock on the pledged delegates. Keep spinning though...

neither candidate can reach the threshhold.

the super delegates are going to hand it to someone.

the Obama camp is so keen on playing by the rules, they should stop insinuating that the supers should vote for whoever has the lead in pledged delegates despite the rules calling for the supers to vote however they want to.
