eskimospy, Obama is WORSE than Bush in these offenses because the side he plays for got their panties in a wad over their enemy doing it. Being a douche AND a hypocrite is worse than being just a douche.

also, just because idiots choose to be idiots and alienate our rights, doesn't mean they aren't supposed to be. a lot of people do things they aren't supposed to do. derpdy do that's pretty much what ever thread in these forums is about.

That's from the declaration of independence, not the constitution, and it's pretty clear that constitutional rights aren't inalienable.

And the Constitution was established to support what? Could it be the principles expressed in the Declaration of Independence? Those principles are really what made the idea of America exceptional, that all human beings are born with inalienable rights by virtue of birth. Regarding the argument over including anything like the Bill of Rights in the Constitution it seems to me that both sides have been somewhat proven to be correct: Without it we would not enjoy the liberties we currently still retain and due to their inclusion far too many Americans believe those rights are granted to them by the Constitution/government.

Except that it's quite clear that rights are not inalienable. We alienate those rights in the normal process of governance each and every day. Every right in the bill of rights is abridged each and every day. The reason is because they AREN'T inalienable and everyone knows it.

What person thinks the rights are granted to them by the government? That wouldn't even make sense, as the text of the BOR speaks about restricting government action, not providing rights to people.

/facepalm Yeah, how unreasonable of me to ask you to provide evidence for your assertions. Is providing a link really that hard?

Well at the time I was on an Android so yes it was. A cursory look using a search engine provides everything you would want to know. Look or not, that's up to you but if others do they'll see what I'm referring to. Yahoo, mobile phones etc. Not only that, but there's so much about it that it would take some time to itemize it all for you.

On the other hand perhaps ignorance is bliss. Your call.

I guess. Somehow I don't think people rotting in jail are really concerned if their rights were screwed over by a hypocritical douche or just a douche.

Obama's an enormous hypocrite on the 4th amendment, I agree. It was wrong when Bush did it, and it's wrong now.

So in that situation you could either say 'I'm on a phone right now, can't look it up', you could just mention the issues specifically such as Yahoo, mobile phones, etc, or you could be an asshole.

Your call.

I can't quite figure out why Righties hate Obama so much, given that he just picked up their hero's (GWB's) ball and ran with it in this and many other regards.

I'm sure, however, that if he vigorously defended privacy rights that his current detractors would rave about how he's "Soft on Crime!"

Go Figure.

A) Republicans don't like anybody, they just hate some people more then others.
B) The economy sucks, so they hate even more people more often then normal.
C) He's not a republican. He can act like one of them all he wants, but he's not a republican (see rules A and B).

I didn't defend Obama, at all. I pointed out that the same voices raving about this are the same ones that supported the Patriot Act, illegal wiretapping, indefinite detention, the invasion of Iraq and a few other minor details of recent history. They have no principles- they oppose it because Obama is doing it. They cheered when Bush did much the same.

Like I said- Go Figure.

Those were necessary for National Security. Did you forget about 9/11 already?

Guess you dont know what unalienable rights are.

"...that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights..."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Pretty much nothing thought of as a "right" is going to be inalienable. It's put out there as a "right" to assert the preference to the alternative(s), not because there is no alternative. With no contrast there's nothing to say, as in your right to attract and be attracted to massive bodies and to radiate.

The Founding Fathers took a stop on the road from theism to atheism known as 'deism.' Deistic phrases can be converted to ontologically naturalistic ones, so you should do that.

Warrantless GPS tracking doesn't bother me, I don't make stupid or threatening Facebook messages, not a drug dealer, not associated w/ organized crime. People that should worry are those that make threatening comments about the country, towards other people, are dealers, affiliated w/ organized crime, not ordinary citizens no matter how paranoid they are.

F'n Obama is no better than Bush in his regard to hand unlimited surveillance power to the government for all citizens that are not serving in a political role.

I'm sure that he will have no problems when he is out of office to have his, his wife's and his daughters to be subject to this very rule as well. If he's not doing anything wrong.....

I don't do any of those things either....but I still don't have a desire or reason to be tracked by the government. If they deem that there is a reason, they need to go to court and get a warrant to prove that their suspicions are, well, warranted.

Wow, land of the free doest mean jack shit anymore

Where the hell have you been? You've given up all your rights since bush had the 911 excuse. Now you can't even take a shit with out them knowing about it.

You have no rights and no your are not free. Hows that free healthcare working out for ya?

Who gives a shit about GPS, 90% of americans have a cell phone and a cell tower in their back yards. The government doesn't even have to spend a dime to track you ass. Your paying 100 bucks a month for the privilege of not ONLY being tracked, but ever phone conversation is digitally stored. All the Text's... All you email and face book posts! Yeah! Your IP is being tracked where ever you go! Congrats! oh and let's not even start in with the microphones and camera's on a cell that can be turned on or off at will! Big Brother is watching and listening. Yeah, you have no rights.
