When I was in Cincinnati, George W did the same thing at the Boat House, what is up with these presidents thinking their time is more valuable than everyone else's.

My comment about him being a pig was tongue in cheek.

If the President stood in line we would be bombarded with a list of stories about how he wasted his time and screw him for being on the clock not doing his job. Basically no matter what someone is going to find something to whine about.

This is (not) much ado about nothing.

The only take-away for me is another reminder that I don't understand the thinking of this bunch from the White House. What was the point of this stunt/photo op? Just call ahead and have a secret Service guy pick up the order. It's clear from the restaurant's website they offer this (although it looks like it must be scheduled in advance normally. Big deal, they could have made an exception for him and no one would have known.)

The Secret Service is doing a fine job, and Obama is right to not wait in line outside in Texas. The BBQ joint is free to not serve him for cutting in line, but they did, because they want the free publicity to get more suckers lined up for hours outside. If you don't like it, take it up with them.

Not upset, but here's a point. Obama tries to portray himself as one of us, but he's not. I wouldn't expect ANY president to stand in line for 3+ hours for food. Sorry, but when you hold that office, you bloody well have better things to do with your time - period. No president is an 'every-man' given the security that is required for said president to go anywhere. You can't try to have the persona of an every-man and then cut in line. Not complaining or raising a fuss. Just stating a simple fact Your life is not your own when you're the president. He has staff members to stand in line for him; that's what we pay them for, among other things.

I'm pretty sure Obama doesn't refer to himself as the "every man", in fact I've heard him refer to himself as the 1%. However he has said he is for helping the "every man". What that has to do about not waiting in line for a BBQ I don't know.
