The Repub controlled Congress told the president how much he could spend and where exactly he could spend it. Now these same Repubs are threatening to NOT raise the debt ceiling that's necessary to cover what they themselves told the President to spend in the first place.

So without the usual deflecting and diverting, again, how is this all Obama's fault?

The Repubs made sure that whatever pork they needed to appease their benefactors was included in the spending THEY authorized and directed Obama to spend on, so its not like they are blameless in this "overspending" they are solely accusing the president of.

All the Repubs want out of this hostage taking is to redirect spending away from the middle class and the poor to further overstuff the pockets of the rich. I mean, during their pathetically run presidential bid, just look at what Romney/Ryan was whispering into the ears of the rich while loudly lying their asses off at their middle class and poor base for which the only use these two rich guys had a use for was supplying votes while these two guys stabbed them in the back with muted disingenuous and disguised rhetoric which actually would have taken away the medicare, social security and other social assistance programs their own base depends on.

Forcing the debt ceiling to stop growing is simply forcing congress to choose between their public bribes to buy votes and their payoffs to their rich croneys. Blaming both sides equally is no less lazy than choosing one side or another. If you want to have an enlightened view of this, I think you need to examine what is driving the defecits/debt, and what leadership is to blame for those drivers. I admit that I haven't done that myself, but here's my perception:

1. The great recession. Millions of people out of work are millions of people that aren't paying income taxes, and usually are claiming unemployment insurance. I think Bush deserves some blame for it, but not as much as most liberals do. The recession was exacerbated by the collapsing housing market which was propped up by policies in place before GWB took office.

2. Low tax receipts. I saw a graphic that as a percentage of GDP, our tax receipts have been historically low for some time now. I think both sides can share blame on this, but probably the Republican party is a little more to blame. The Democrats are equally to blame on certain policies like mortgage interest exemptions and carried interest.

3. Health Care spending. I don't think Obama Care made it worse, but I don't think it really helped either. We spend far too much on health care, and the fat pigs that benefit have tons of influence in Washington.

4. Expensive wars. Democrats get some blame here, certainly, but I think you have to give more blame to Republicans on this. They pushed us to war in Iraq, and Afghanistan should have been far more limited than it was.

The current amount of debt that the government has plus the amount it needs to come up with to pay the X amount of dollars exceeds the current "debt limit". So, the President tells Congress to pay the bills that they have racked up. That raising the debt limit is the only rational choice.
