HOPE sells out for Obama
What even money can't buy in Texas
So I was looking to buy some HOPE.
Sold out. Gray hope, also sold out! Even with money, you cant even buy the small HOPE that i need.
Seeing the hate rallies and anger in the McCain crowds, I cant help but think that living in Texas, it is almost dangerous to be an Obama supporter. At UTD I once over heard (since they were yelling) two guys talking about how they are voting for McCain. Long story short, nice girls chim on on conversation, guys yells at them, girls stop talking and mind own business to continue eating their lunch, guys continue yelling, my friends and i stayed just in case because i actually thought the guys were going to hurt the girls for a moment seeing how angry they were. No harm done but i've never in my life seen a political debate involve so much anger/emotion and so little factual data about issues being presented. FYI, Texas has been a red state for almost 3 decades now and is ranked 2nd most liberal in US. No doubt deep Republican territory.
Reasons for buying HOPE and my huge rant (sorry i have to vent! I dont expect anyone to read it. Actually, its better not to.):
1. Health care
As a UTD student majoring in biology, it comes naturally that I read medical publications like NEJM, JAMA, Nature, etc. No doubt, doctors are some of the smartest and most caring people in our society. I weight their judgment heavily on health care. Who understands the system better than the people who are working in it? I've never been interested in politics, until articles on these medical publications keep poping up about McCain vs Obama healthcare plans. All i can say is that i've never read one praising or even saying that McCain's plan is better than Obama's. Although Obama's plan isn't perfect, it becomes clear that reading these articles written by these doctors will give you a deep understanding of how badly McCain can mess this country up if elected. Read them yourself. Its really hard to disagree with what the doctors are saying. These rather length articles are very well written. The logical is all there.
2. Economy

Just look at the two graphs. McCain's plan shows that as you become richer, you get a larger % of the tax cut.Obama's plan on the other hand shows a decrease in the tax as you become more poor. Why are people supporting McCain's plan? Give me some perspective.
Just to quote some comments on that website from people "Wow the person who wrote this article is clearly jealous of people with money and clearly a socialist."
and "But if those people do not get more money from tax cut, who are hiring those in the bottom categories?" So some people really do believe in the trickle down effect still. Others comment, asking why they should have to pay more when they work hard, study, and then have to pay more. But as i see it, those people haven't even looking at the graph or the people commenting are dreaming. Even if you graduate from graduate school with a PhD/MD or any other doctoral level degree, your probably not going to be pulling in millions. The only people that have issues is the super rich. The only thing i find curious is people's epic greed. If your making more than 250k a year, why is it that you need the difference of 5% on the difference over 250k (meaning if you make 300k, you pay 5% extra on the 50k only)?

Wage gapwidens. Rich richer, poor poorer.
Obama is asking the rich, McCain is asking the poor. Its been the poor people thats always fought for this country. Who do you think are comming back with lost limbs or dying in Iraq? The rich? HA! Not to mention soliders make very little money and they would benefit more under Obama, and morally so! The soldiers deserve it,.... no they've earned the right to have a larger tax cut. For once, the rich needs to stop being so greedy and put their country first. These soldiers have given too much yet recieve so little. A soldier's wage is well below the median wage in america. 100 years in Iraq if we have to he says? How many soliders will die and how many billions will the war cost in 8 years time should McCain win? Whose going to act like a grown up and fix our huge debt? We cant act like teenage kids as a nation, spending on credit as though we don't have to pay it back.
4. Decency
I dont find it presidental for McCain to sink down the the level of those he is trying to fight. He is using fear to divide the US, and is opening a deep wound, a wound that has begun to heal with the new generation. Sadly, McCain has succeeded, revealing a nasty part of America (youtube McCain hate rally(ies)). Remember when 9/11 attacked and they were showing videos of people in muslim countries celebrating? Remember that short video? Then later we find out that when the camera was zoomed out, it was really only like 10 people. Well now, over in the Middle East, they are showing videos of our hate rallies. If anything, it has added a lot of fuel to the flames. It is hypocritical of McCain to think he can fight terrorism and fix Iraq when he has further divided his own country. Our nation cannot not be lead under the banner of hatred. Its just too ironic that McCain accuse Obama of being a terrorist when McCain obviously doesn't own a mirror.
5. Your not the one fighting!
You cant kill terrorism because its an idea and train of though. Using physical means to kill a non physical entity is impossible. Mario cannot jump on the ghosts. Killing also cant be the answer to every problem. I trust the generals both at the pentagon and Patreaus is doing everything they can to stabilize Iraq. What would McCain do thats any different? As if the generals arent already being ordered to bring peace ASAP? McCain, its not your generation fighting nor are the people fighting in Iraq your wage bracket.
Just that the more I read, the more pissed off i get. Thats the end of my rant...
Cant wait for the "your a troll" comment, with no real logical argument. Please, do give arguments against the doctors on health care. Or the tax graphs. Or explain how can McCain look a soldier in the eye who a lost limb and explain as to why hes giving the richer people a larger tax break. Or better yet, explain it to the familes (who, statistically, are generally poor) of the soldiers who died. Explain why Ayers (who is both a professor and won a citizen of the year award) is a terrorist. Since when did McCain get so smart that he thinks he can fix Iraq when all the generals at the pentagon cant?
