Which is exactly what's needed.

I guess I am not really a big fan of wearing sweaters.

Neither are the people who have trouble affording heating to the insane amount of consumption from people that don't care.

I have no trouble paying for my heating bill.

Woosh! You missed the point.

The heating company doesn't raise only your cost per unit of electricity/gas/oil when you (hypothetically speaking) decide to run up your heating bill. That cost is distributed throughout all the people buying in the system. So just because YOU can pay your heating bill, even at ridiculously high amounts doesn't mean others in the system want to pay more because you decided to be gluttonous.

Well, then they can wear a sweater, but I don't have to.

This seems like a well reasoned argument based in facts to me!

If he had said something to that affect, I would agree. Something like, "As Americans, we need to lead the world and inspire others when it comes to conservation, stewardship of the land, and finding alternative ways to generate energy." Instead, it came off as we have to get international approval for how much we eat, what we drive, and how we cool our homes.

The usually articulate Obama came off as a boob here.

Yeap. Presidential candidates aren't allowed to speak to Americans as if they were adults. If you ever say that we should change something America does, it's pretty much America hating treason. (note: that doesn't apply so long as you can blame 'the fat cats in Washington' or if you are promising to destroy a foreign enemy. Those things you can change any time)

The only acceptable thing Obama could have done in this situation was say "If they won't give us oil, we'll find a way to make it out of ground up terr'ists!" while jumping in the air to catch an American flag football as Bruce Springsteen rocked out in the background.

<Sigh>

A good president would offer to help the auto industry develop fuel efficient hybrids (or outright electric) SUVs while also addressing Malthusian issues like population explosion.

A better comment would be:

"I'm going to help the auto-industry develop high mileage, fuel efficient hybrid SUVs and I'm going to work to attain zero population growth or negative population growth so that we can eat as much as we want and keep our homes at 72 degrees all the time."

So basically corporate welfare? Auto companies getting rich off of taxpayer funding?

Obama does not care if you need healthcare his solution is to tell you to eat less and just suffer. This is the true heartless face of Obama.

Great strategy - tell voters how wrong they are for running the air conditioning and not going hungry. That will work wonders for winning over the middle class.

I do all the things he mentions but I'm still voting for him.

I don't think he needs strategy tips from you.

So in 2000 we shouldn't have trusted your judgement to put somebody in the Whitehouse up the street, let alone the one in DC.

In 2004 you didn't give a rats ass enough.

In 2008 you're going to vote for somebody who has pandered, peddled influence, and effectively watered down all meaningful change in the torture bill to get enough influence to run for President. Then switches sides like a lemming and panders to voters (while winking to businesses) regarding illegal immigration.

So you're judgement is to give credit to somebody for his past deeds (McCain) as an affirmative, but never stepped into the negative for the same (Bush's effective draft dodging, suspected drug dealing, poor business accumen, and basic idiocy).

Wow, I guess we shouldn't trust you to vote for the person who would live in the White House up the street, let alone the one in DC, for all of the stupid logic you use in voting for those people.

You're so easily hoodwinked I bet I could sell you a fucking bridge to nowhere.

newflash spock..i dont need logic to make any decision, i dont need to track process step by step to validate a decision.
i dont need to justify my lack of what you consider rationale to anyone to qualify my vote.
nah, im going with the gut on this one.

John McCain, kept shit real, laid it all on the line for this country.
i respect that.
As Moonie will tell you, were all horribly flawed (cept maybe you of course) so Johnny Mac gets a pass.

Have you even bothered to look at McCain's Senate voting record?

Oh, I forgot, that would imply logical analysis of a candidate's record, and you don't need logic to make a decision.

So he "laid it all on the line" 30+ years ago, but has done nothing but influence peddle and sell his soul in politics, creating a bill to fight torture but giving it all way to peddle influence for his white house run. Then is more than willing to "lay it all on the line" to sell this country to illegal immigrants because his business buddy contributors want cheap labor.

Then you go and vote for the guy who laid nothing on the line because his daddy got him a loser appointment to an obsolete airplane in the air national guard, effectively dodging the draft.

Your ability to pick winners and losers is amazingly stupid. Of course you don't need logic to vote, because you have none at all.
