As more consumers lose their health care coverage because of Obamacare, a woman from Washington State, quoted by President Obama as a success, finds out that her support for Obamacare falls short, as she cannot afford the Obamacare insurance plans after all, the Washington State Wire reported on Monday.
Erik Smith of the Washington State Wire said that Jessica Sanford, whose letter was quoted by President Obama in October as a sign of success of his Affordable Care Act health care plan, now finds out that she cannot afford the health plans and much to her surprise, does not qualify for a tax credit either.
A household with one adult and one child with a $50K annual income gets the tax credit.When Stanford decided to go back and choose another plan, it lowered her tax credit to $110.
However, not long after that, she received word from the state that it had erred again and this time, she was entitled to no tax credit.

OK, in the original source article it says the woman's son qualifies for Medicaid for a $30 a month premium and she loses her subsidy. It looks like doing that and getting a plan for herself or getting one for both of them is a wash at about $400 a month for either option. And she was getting rate quotes of $500-$600 prior to the ACA.
Sanford reiterated her frustration in a post to the Washington HealthPlanFinder's Facebook page last Friday.
"Wow. You guys really screwed me over," Sanford wrote. "Now I have been priced out and will not be able to afford the plans you offer. But, I get to pay $95 and up for not having health insurance. I am so incredibly disappointed and saddened. You majorly screwed up."
Voted for Obama twice.
Disappointed that Obamacare will not subsidize her health insurance. Further disappointed that, under Obamacare, she not only will not get insurance but will have to pay a fine for not having insurance.
She trusted the government.

I know many of my neighbors have said even though they can afford the higher premiums ($100 - $250 a month) it will result in less money they can spend on other things. If there are many like them, how long will take for this to hurt the economy?

It won't take long. Or people en masse are gonna say 'screw it' and not bother getting health insurance. Gotta love a government that deliberately set about to destroy what worked reasonably well for the majority of the country.
The affordable care act was designed to do one thing, and that is to milk the public for every penny the insurance companies can get.
The government solution to that is obvious. Single payer is next.
Reality is starting to hit the fan. I hate to see so many people get screwed over by this horrible legislation. Repeal is inevitable as negative public opinion escalates. I hope we have some very competent people working on an exit strategy.

Public opinion is going South in a big hurry as they begin to understand what happened and how's it's going to personally affect them.Wish I could share your optimism on repeal, but I doubt it will happen. I could easily be wrong, but I can't think of any program of this magnitude that has been repealed once it's gone into effect. Repeal would only have a chance of happening if there was a massive rep victory in the senate next year. In spite of undeniable proof that Obama lied repeatedly, that his staff knew all along that this mess was going to happen, and the blatant corruption wrt the botched abortion of a website, there are still over 40% of the people that consider him 'honest' And the bumbling 'stupid party' will find a way of screwing up next fall's elections, so yeah, not holding out hope.

I truly hope that this is the kick in the balls that the American people need to finally get them enraged at what our government is doing to them. Only time will tell.
