@ Medium settings, most likely. But care to inform us how you have a 6800 AGP w/ an Opteron 165?

I am running a Neo 2 platinum, which is Nforce 3 Ultra and handles the Dual core Optys fine with the more recent BIOS revisions.

Nevermind. Exact quote from there website says this:

"The game will be available in stores in North America and Europe the week of March 20th. Check with your local retail store to find out when they will receive their copies."

So I guess I will just have to drive around everywhere hoping they have it.

Should do just fine. I'd take the 3.4GHz P4, 2GB RAM & X1900XT for 1024x768 preview thing with a big pinch of salt. They list the GeForce FX series as minimum, lol.

The higher the requirements the prettier the game, well not always(like the ugly pile of cr*p Serious Sam 2). God I hope I can get my hands on this game sometime near the relese date.

The store around my area (called another store a little while ago and they said they are getting it Monday too if all goes well and delivery gets there on time) said it will be there the 20th and all online sites say they are shipping it the 20th so I am sure it will be in B+M stores Monday. Things have been known to change a few days before though so you never know.

If it doesnt come out till the 21st, oh well. A month ago I was planning on the 21st anyway so I wont be too bummed out if I have to wait another day! I will just reformat/do a clean install of XP on the 20th and get ready to play on the 21st.

Yo do realize you're extremely bottlenecked by your GPU, right? You're running an absolute OMFG top of the line CPU (FX-60 basicly), with a card that wasnt top of the line when it came out two generations ago.

"Tru dat homie" I'm sure we will be okay with our new gen cards/good CPUs and all! I wanna know if its almost a must to have 2gigs for this game.

For best performance with no stuttering when you're playing at maximum settings, I think 2GB will be a must for Oblivion and for many other games, especially Oblivion due to the most likely frequent loading times. But if I were you I'd worry more about upgrading your GPU.

Yep, but I only spent ~$280 on the cpu and I will prob keep it and migrate to PCI-E in another year or so. Plus it isn't really worth it to upgrade to a faster AGP card (6800GS isn't enough of a jump to justify spending the cash on it). It is an unlocked 6800 at least, as well having a mild core OC, so it's somewhere near stock 6800GS territory.

You dont think my 144 @ 2.8ghz is enough?
I had 2GBs of ram about a month but it was 4 sticks and I didnt like it so I sold off the corsairs I had and kept my great tccd chips.

edit: err you said GPU (thought you said CPU) and I think you thought I was the other guy. I have an opty at 2.8 with a 7900GT. I think im cool
Was just curious about the 2gigs of ram and I was agreeing with you on how he is bottlenecked right now.

I would have to drive on the freeway to get to a local EB games. Its a bit scary in my car, seeing as how my brakes suck and all.

I bet my local Fred Myer will get it in, if all else fails.

Im gonna see if I can possibly scrounge enough money for a 7800GT, and Oblivion at the same time. It probably wont happen, but at least I can end up with a 7600GT. Once I earn some more money, ill sell that on Ebay for even more than I bought it. People will buy anything.

Betting 10 bucks that the X1800XT will be faster than the 7900GTX in Oblivion.

EDIT: This post is just for fun and will not involve any monetary dealings. (Before somebody out there takes my post wayyyy too seriously)

I'd take you up on that action, but there's just too many dang variables. What settings? And what site should be used for clarification? And what defines "faster"?

Seriously, just about every single review out there shows a GTX scoring higher than an x1800xt in FEAR at all settings (and I don't think any tested with the new beta drivers). Granted, it wasn't a blowout... in fact, I'd consider them equal in performance based on the #s.

I certainly hope Oblivion is better optimized than FEAR, shader-heavy or not.

That'd be very tough to pull off. The x1800xt does not have a 16x3 shader advantage like the x1900xt has.

I'm in.
I'll paypal you $10 if you are right.

BTW, I'm assuming standard benchmark procedure.. maximum FPS being the judge of fastest and the winner of the majority of resolutions with and without AA/AF.

Yup, you're gonna lose $10 on this one.

Now if you said the X1900XT, sure, i could see that being possible.
