Obscure video game question

I was installing a game I had bought for my PC from a long time ago.

The game is called Qwirks. It's kind of like Tetris. In Japan, it was called Puyo Puyo.

After I installed it, I was shocked to see that it had copy protection based on some questions.

I threw out/lost the instruction manual a long time ago. The company that produced it seems like it went out of business a long time ago. I believe it was called Spectrum Holobyte.

Would anyone happen to have the answers?

Thanks.

This post brought back some OLD memories! I remember Nascar Racing 1, I used to play it on my old 486 when I was a young lad... To start each game, it would ask you a question from the manual, like 'What is the first word in line 12 of page 34 in the instruction manual?'

Thanks for the memories

hehe damn... I remember The Punisher and some Harley Davidson game doing that too. hehe... whenever I couldn't find the manuals I would just keep typing in like "grenade" or "race" or something until it worked

Perfect General did the same. Meant we had to photo copy the whole manual.
The original Civilization had a similar scheme. I suppose we will go though the same thing with CDs. It starts with disk copy protect schemes, then cracking software, then manual type schemes. The cycle starts again.

Most of the early Lucas Arts Star Wars based games had that sort of "protection" as well.

Oh man, there's actually a version of Puyo Puyo that someone made up as a Flash game; I forgot the link, but if you look around you could prolly play that.

BTW, I have the game for my Super Famicom; actually, I got "Super Puyopuyo 2" which is the sequel to the orig; great group game, since it's got a 4-player mode which is always chaotic, and mad fun. That one and Bomberman, coupled with Mario Kart, are some of the best games to pit against your buddies.

The original MechWarrior game had some keywords you had to respond to certain other keywords with. The original Empire you had to supply a word from different areas of the book. I just kept using "the" when I lost the papers.

One of these days I'll get around to searching for the codes used for X-Com 1, I loved the game but can't play it anymore!
