In terms of premium audio systems at least. Two weeks ago while in San Diego, I had a Volvo S40 with the Premium Dolby/Pro-Logic II sound system. This week, I have an Infiniti G35 with a Bose system. I have the same audio CDs now as I had two weeks ago in San Diego. The Volvo's system seemed MUCH MUCH better in terms of balance and richness and warmth of sound. The Infiniti seems to only have bass and that's it. And no matter where the bass level is set, the front speakers vibrate and the rearview mirror vibrates. Seems low quality. The G35 is a 2006 model with about 7K miles on the ODO.

And while I'm bashing the G35, it's no where near being as razor-sharp in handling and ride as a 3-series. The G feels much more like an older E38 5-series. The 3 by comparison is like putting on a tight-fitting glove. The VQ in the G is nice to rev but lacks th buttery smoothness of the 3's I6. The VQ has lovely torque of course. I only drove like 90 miles tonight and the G35 is already near half a tank. It likes expensive gas! But I am sure the 3 isn't too far off either.

In hhe end, if I wanted to spend $45K on car, it would NOT be an Infiniti G35! Quite underwhelming. No offense to G35 onwers here at ATOT of course.

That is all.

Why would you spend $45k on a G35? You can get a new 6-speed G35 sedan with leather for $31k

Only one slight problem with that comparision: A 330 will run you into the low-mid 40s. A G35 is low-mid 30s.

Edit: beat to it by NFS4

1. how do i know if my 2001 camry has keyless entry or not?
2. my factory stereo (with CD and cassette player) is weird. i installed XM satelite radio and use the cassette player to listen to it but the cassette player adaptor keeps switching sides? what's wrong with it?

Okay, so if I had $31K to spend!

If you had $31k to spend, you wouldn't be getting a 330i or an IS350 so your choices are kinda limited

For what it is, the G35 is a nice vehicle

I'd get a 2007 Camry! So kickass! But if I had more money, I'd get a Bimmer or Audi (with extra extra warranty that is )!

Honestly you being a self-professed audiophile should not have expected much from the Bose in the first place. McIntosh FTW

G35 is old now, end of the line for the current model. Infiniti is probably coming out with a new G37 this year (with looks similar to that of the Infiniti Coupe concept). For the money I think G35 is the best though, IS350/3 Series/TL is usually around $6k- $10k more similarly equipped. Thanks to the G35, Infiniti is enjoying the success they have today.

For some reason, I thought that your nickname was a reference to Jason Statham's character in Snatch

You mean the E34 5 series. The E38 is the 7 series. Anyway, if you think the sound system in the $45K G35 is bad then you have not hear my $60K E39 540I stereo system. The old honda accord has a better stereo system my BMW. I guess the German spent all their money on the car's engineering and not on stereo or a decent cup holder.

I think the G35 Sedan is faster than the new 3-series and the S40.

The S40 has a better audio system. It's a Volvo. They are known for their audio - safety.

Bose systems are found in many car companies. Bose is "okay". You can hardly tell the difference from a bose and a stock non-upgraded sound system.

BMW is also known for its handling. You cant come close to it.

Did the G you drove have sport suspension? Standard suspension setup with the smaller wheels does feel a bit soft in the sedan, I drive them as loaners all the time. Drive with the sport suspension/larger wheels, or better yet - the coupe and it'll feel a lot tighter. Better apples/apples comparison too because G35 w/ sport suspension is still cheaper than a similarly equipped 325i.

Volvo has been dedicated to sound quality for quite some time. Their best being found in the C70 coupes, both new and old style.

My S70 came with a 9 speaker Dolby Pro Logic surround system, very good sound for a stock sound system.

The fact that it'll burn an E46 in a straight line doesn't hurt either. Sadly, the same can't be said of the new S40s, which have rather limited potential.

My 850 turbo sounded better than my TL does, and that's a 10 year difference. The sad thing is, most people think the TL sounds good.
