oc g.skill tridentX with intel rig problems

Hi,

I have a new rig with the following setup ...

Intel Core i7 3770K
Intel DZ77RE-75K
G.Skill F3-2400C10D-8GTX
Windows 8

The issue is the BIOS defaults to 1333 clock on this memory. And I'd like it to run at 2400. Selecting the XMP 2400 profile causes a ton of screen flicker. OS doesn't crash, but it sure isn't usable.

Seems ridiculous that I'm running the memory at roughly half the rated speed. And I would have thought this to be a relatively "safe" set of components to play with.

Mobo should be able to handle DDR3 2400. Also, Intel and G.Skill think the processor/mem-kit pair should work. Any tips as to where the deficiency is? Processor/Mem problem? Mobo/Mem problem? Maybe manually tuning instead of XMP profiles would work better?

make sure you have the T2 xmp ,not the T1 xmp if that kit has 2 xmp profiles
-you can check with cpu-z[newest] if it has 2 ,if it does check your bios settings.
-check voltage for 1.65v.
-my starter bios[MVF] did not read my xmp correctly.so update or reset bios maybe.
-also reseat the ram after if having the same issue.

Huh? I've never heard of memory causing screen flicker.... Are you using the integrated graphics or a discreet card?

Yes, at that time it was the integrated graphics. My graphics card arrived yesterday so now I'm using that. But I haven't tried OC the memory since then. Might be an interesting test.

A little follow up ...

I contacted G.Skill. They simply replied saying that the Intel board had trouble with 2400. And softly suggested that one of the ASUS boards they tested would be a bit more fuss free.

Interesting. I didn't mention it in my original post, but there were two 2400 XMP options. But from the UI in the Intel BIOS, they looked the same. Couldn't tell if one was T1 or T2 or otherwise. Pretty sure I tried both with the same issue. I'll have to check that again.

I have updated to latest BIOS. The release notes didn't mention anything about DDR3/Memory/2400. So I didn't think it would have an impact. But it is worth a try.
