Oc Problems (Plz Help!)

I am having problems OCing, I just bought a new rig (see specs in my rigs section)

I can get it to run anywhere close to 1533 where it is supposed to clock. ( I think i have it now at 11.5 clock multiplier and 120 fsb)

Any suggestions, i dont know what else to say.

why do you have it at 120mhz fsb???

at 120mhz your pci and agp will both be way out of spec, that means any onboard device or addin card could be a limiting factor


the more i look at it the more i suspect 120mhz fsb is a typo

11.5 Multiplier X a FSB of 120 is only 1380MHz...

a AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (1533MHz) uses a FSB of 133........so please clarify what your talkign about in your post......

edited because im tired and my eyes just played a trick on me hehehe



pci and agp bus run as a fraction of the fsb (everything from onboard sound to hard drives are included on the pci bus)

at 100mhz fsb the pci is set at 1/3rd and the agp is set at 2/3rd... this means when the fsb is 100mhz the pci is running at 33mhz and the agp at 66mhz

when you go to a 133mhz fsb the ratio changes to 1/4th pci and 1/2 agp meaning the pci is once again at 33mhz and the agp is at 66mhz

but... when you run the fsb at 120mhz your still at 1/3rd and 2/3rds, this means your pci bus is running at 40mhz and your agp is running at 80mhz

many pci devices will not function at 40mhz... this could cause the system to not post at 120mhz fsb

yes it is @ 120fsb, I have tried, multiple times to run it at 133 and it wont work

it is clocked, but i am changing it through the ASUS bios on the A7V, so im not sure what that means

The power was my initial thought, I have a 350 PSU (dont know the maker) but i am going to get a new Antec 400W for christmas, so once i see if that works, ill get back to you guys.

Sorry for the delay, but i was on vacation.

An update, I got the SX840 for my case, when i finished hooking it up, it immediately started up on the O/Ced FSB frequency. Thanks a ton for all your help!

I have one more question, what other FSB frequencies will work, I know the *33's will work, but what else. Or should i try to mess with the clock multiplier instead? Thanks a bunch
